Racist Graffiti At Air Force Academy - Or Not

(CNN)In late September, after racist slurs were found on the message boards of five black cadet candidates at the Air Force Academy Preparatory School, the school's superintendent was angry.

Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria told cadets to line up and pull out their phones to remember his message, and he forcefully denounced racism and intolerance.
"If you're outraged by those words, then you're in the right place. That kind of behavior has no place at the Prep School," Silveria said.

The speech was posted on Air Force Academy's Facebook page and quickly went viral. The Air Force launched an internal investigation to find the culprit.

But on Tuesday, Air Force Academy officials said that one of the black cadet candidates actually wrote the racist messages.
"We can confirm that one of the cadet candidates who was allegedly targeted by racist remarks written outside their dorm room was actually responsible for the act," the Academy said in a written statement. "The individual admitted responsibility and this was validated by the investigation."

Based on the frequency at which these "racist" graffito are found to be created by a member of the affected ethnicity it should be standard policy to ignore any such defacement unless the perpetrator is caught red-handed.

You are right to point out and expose hoaxes, billy. This is a serious con. Like 'Pizzagate' which could have been fatal and the 'Bowling Green massacre' which fills weak minds with lies, all hoaxes should be exposed. And you wont get any thanks for it either. When I first read your post, my mind went directly to the woman who accused a 14 yr old Emmet Till of whistling at her. That doesn't excuse the AF Academy hoax that disgraced an honored org. And that group has been slandered before, with some kind of fundie Christian nonsense that hasn't proven to be true either. We are on the same page in condemning this hoax. It's just that we are getting 'hoax-ed' regularly these days, and choosing one over the other is almost an exercise in futility any more. Napolitano and the Trump Tower wiretap, Gillespie and the sanctuary cities, confiscation of ALL guns, American institutions are out to destroy the nation..the list is endless and destroys trust, turning it into dangerous paranoia and leading to unorganized chaos.
