But there is another, wholly inconspicuous category of subliminal masochism which is quite familiar to clinical psychologists, particularly those of the Freudian orientation, and is commonly identified as the pre-conscious self-destructive personality. I see the distinction you are making, but it is a problem due to a void in the persons life. They think that they have no satisfying purpose, and they are right, so they need to realize what most of us know already; the best in life comes from serving OTHER PEOPLE and not ourselves.
