Yeah, I have never been on a forum with rep points and it took me a while to figure it out, too.

At some point, I repped someone and they sent me a thank you PM. So then I had to figure out how to turn on my notifications so I could do the same when I receive rep.

I felt the same way you did. As if everyone must have thought I was rude for not acknowledging the brownie points all that time.
