Republican congressman shows his ass

It's a direct quote of the headline.

But if that's the hill you want to die on, fine. They didn't vote for it.

They're just responsible for it.

Polls: Republicans Blamed for Government Shutdown

The political chaos in Washington over funding the federal government seems to be stirring the public, says Quinnipiac pollster Peter Brown.

“Americans don’t like shutting down the government. Even Americans who don’t like Obamacare don’t like shutting down the government,” says Brown.

Brown’s latest poll found that 72 percent of Americans oppose the government shutdown and a growing number put most of the blame on Republicans in Congress.

“Politics is a zero-sum game. If it’s good for one side, it’s bad for the other, and right now it’s bad for the Republicans and good for the Democrats,” says Brown.

But Brown and other analysts see a deeper, more troubling impact of the political dysfunction in Washington.

Americans seem to be losing faith in the ability of the political parties and the government to function, says analyst Charlie Cook.

“They may end up blaming Republicans more than Democrats and more than the president. But historically when you have these kinds of showdowns everybody looks bad,” says Cook.

U.S. voters are already cynical. And Peter Brown says a lengthy government shutdown would lead to even greater disillusion among the public.

“The government can’t seem to get done what they think needs to get done. Whether they are for or against this program or that, they would like to see something positive come out of Washington. And in their view they are not seeing it.”

Brown adds that frustration will likely grow as the shutdown continues.

So a poll blamming Republicans proves....what again? Who cares what some poll says about who is most responsible for a shutdown?

I agree Republicans are responsible for the shutdown, they are the only people acting responsibly. If they had acted like the Democrats, like a bunch of spoiled brats who want their credit card limit raised without paying any of it off, then they'd be responsible for more reckless spending and driving our debt up trillions more.

What your precious polls don't ask is whether or not people think shutting the government down is a bad or good thing.

Why don't your friends in the media run polls like "Is raising the debt another trillion good for America?" Of course the answer probably wouldn't help your progressive agenda, so just stick to the MSNBC talking points.

Who is responsible? The Republicans.

Who says so? Everybody that isn't a right wing nutjob.

You all can repeat Rush Coulter's lines until the cows come home, but our government is shutdown and fuck-all EVERYBODY knows who did it.

The Republicans made a conscious decision to try to blackmail away the ACA.

They failed.

This is on them.

Everybody knows it - and you all continually trying to point the finger is laughable at best.

Its within their authority to defund ACA.

We simply don't have the money to even fund it. But you liberals just don't care. Borrow another trillion to pay for it.

You still can't admit that the Republicans won the House last election, and that they have the constitutional authority to fund whatever they want. Not that you progressives give a damn about the Constitution or fiscal responsibility.

And oh by the way, the House passed a bill to fund the national parks but your Dem buddies refused to pass it---funding ACA with a trillion more dollars in debt is more important to them.

If it were 'within their authority,' they would have done so already. They can't, so they are attempting blackmail.

Actually they did. They passed the budget and its sitting on Harry's desk.

Normally the Senate would negotiate what changes could be made to do a compromise, but the Dems are unwilling. That's on them, not the House.

You can just as easily say its the Senate Dems attempting blackmail, trying to run the country into a trillion more in debt for a new program most Americans don't need or want anyway.

the media could also have a poll that asks, is bringing the deficit down from $1.5 trillion a year to $700 billion a year a good thing?

And overwhelmingly, my guess is that the polling answer would be YES.

The guard was just doing her job, it wasn't a job she created, she was told to do what she was doing by her employer...why would be pegged as the bad guy?

Sorry to break it to you, but I don't get any Coulter/Rush/Fox News out here in Germany.

I see you can't refute anything I said. You think its a good idea to borrow a trillion dollars every year to fund ACA. You can't even admit that WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY to pay for it.

I simply disagree...

the House NEW their supposed budget would absolutely go no where with the Senate....they never ever thought it would make it to the Senate floor for a vote....they passed a meaningless budget for a ''dog and pony show'' only.... it's plain as day.....

Funny how you can rattle off all the talking points - who knows. Maybe you feed them the propaganda high points. ;)

But again, its only the Dems saying they won't negotiate anything. Republicans are willing.

Yea, its a talking point to say its a bad thing to borrow a trillion dollars when we are already so far in debt. Where would I be without Fox to tell me such a common sense thing. :cuckoo:

negotiate? republicans are willing to negotiate on funding the ACA, a law that passed and was signed? I didn't know that they were willing to negotiate on the bone of contention in this whole debacle?

If that's not what you are talking about, then negotiate on what theHawk?

What a serious dickhead.
He votes for something he knows will result in a shutdown then goes on to blame this woman who was doing her job.
The guy in the cycle helmet was bang on.

Maybe if Harry and the Hussein would sit down at a table with them they could find out.

If they get rid of exemptions from this "law" and make other budget cuts to reign in some of this debt, I am sure Repubs would settle for that.

I'm not up for that. Last time Boehner got 98% of what he wanted - it's time for them to 'give a little bit.'

It's a CR. Let it go through clean, Period. They've had three years to fix it, but all they did was try to kill it.

Don't be silly. Of course you do.

So if the ACA isn't funded, nothing else can be?
Shutting down the monuments has nothing to do with funding.

It costs just as much to guard the monuments if not more, than to open them.
It's your messiah throwing a tantrum and screwing the people because he didn't get exactly what he wanted ( absolute power).

He even deployed paid federal gunslingers to surround private property!!!!!!!!!!
Is that the tea parties fault too?

okey dokey, I guess all them elected loving people in the Democrat party and Obama calling us, hostage takers, terrorist, anarchist, flat earthers, and the loving name calling goes on and on...

AREN'T SHOWING THEIR Ass?

Im stunned over you people in your PICK and CHOICE OF who are asses

First of all, Congress never voted to shut anything down. The House passed several spending bills, the Democraps in the Senate refuse to pass them. The fact that Democrats won't negotiate anything means no compromise can be made, and the result is a shutdown.

Also, if a Park Ranger or a guard is on duty then why does a monument have to be closed? It takes more effort to block access to such sites than it does to just let people walk through them and just make sure no damage is done to the property.

The House has the authority to fund or defund whatever they wish.

The Republicans won the majority of the House the last election. GET OVER IT.

Lotta words to impart no answer at all.

Is "How the hell does he even justify such a reaction??" some kind of complex question?

I was correcting the false information in the OP.

No one has "voted for" a government shutdown.

I agree that he shouldn't be exchanging with one of the guards/park rangers, they are just following their marching orders. The orders come from the Obama administration and they should be ashamed of themselves for the closures. They are clearly going overboard trying to outrage people by blamming the closures on Republicans. And guess what, you Obama knob slobberers fell for it.

You people are so full of it. You have been flapping yap about drowning the government for several decades. Now you Teabaggers and the captive GOP has taken the oppertunity
to put your wet dream into action. But find that the general reaction to it is complete dismay. So you are trying to shift the blame for the actions that you have advocated for decades and now have put into action.

Sorry. No one believes you. You don't even believe it yourself. You just are frightened of the consequences of your actions, and are now trying to point at the Dems. Won't work, less now than in 1996. No matter what happens now, you have created a no win situation for yourself.

No outrage here, Staph. GOP Reps showing their real persona. The American Voter will be the judge.
