I would challenge this ... as an example, AR-15 (and similar style weapons) in 2021 were only used in roughly 20% of shootings. What data do you have available to justify your statement?

In the last 10 years, the body count is owned by the AR. We just stopped another one here and the weapon of choice was the AR. Tenn and Kentucky just had two mass shootings and both used the AR. The so called 20% still has the intended body count. You can't change history no matter how bad you try.

Most of the posters here are old non-college educated white men. That's Trump base. What they don't realize is that young people consistently want more gun control. Gen Z is the first generation to endure active shooter drills in schools. They consistently identify access to guns, and particularly assault rifles, as a big, big problem.

Eventually, as the Boomers die off, Gen Z will get older, and they will implement more gun control. It's only a matter of time.

Sounds to me like it's only a matter of wishful thinking.

Why don't you educate yourself by going to a gun range and just observe the people shooting. I guess you'll be shocked to find out many of them are younger people.

Years ago we used to go to the range. At times the place was nearly empty. Maybe at most four or five booths were taken. The men folk would enjoy using their weapons and the women folk sat behind the glass having BS sessions, reading a book, or just looking on the range.

Fast forward 20 years later, the waiting time for a booth is usually over an hour. That's in spite of new ranges in the area opening up. The females are no longer behind the glass. They are in front of the glass practicing their aim with their favorite weapons. They love it.

So if anything, the interest in self-defense and firearm ownership is growing in this country. That's why voters elected officials in their state that promised to bring programs like CCWs to their state. They furthermore supported candidates that promised to loosen gun control and give the shooter the benefit of the doubt instead of the criminal. The exclusions are commie states like NY, CA, and places like that. But for the rest of the country, look for more people to own firearms.
