No one in government ever told the banks to relax standard banking practices when vetting loan applicants' credit worthiness.

The government forced lenders/banks to make quotas based on race, and the government relaxed government requirements / standards placed on loans and on bank accountability for certain types of financial instruments. We put a freak (Barney Frank) from California in charge of our banking system and we all paid the price for the quick money people made artificially building up the housing bubble. The guilty should have paid, not us.
