The Republicans should pull out of CPD debates and propose a panel and fornat comprise equally of Left and Right wing Media outlets. Let’s put Rachel Maddow and Sean Hannity on the same panel. The CPD debates have become so slanted for Democrats and no matter how bad a Democrat performs or how good a Republican performs, they liberal dominated media always declares the Democrat the winner. In the first debate in 2012, Mit Romney obliterated Obama. The press declared Obama the victor but said he had a lot of improvement to do before the next debate.

They already do that, its called a commercial.

The debates only get eyeballs because there is a fight to be had and Americans like their fights. Just look at the framing of the debates every 4 years, they are damn near identical to the branding that surrounds a boxing match.

And that is not an exaggeration, just put them side by side. It is eerily similar. For that alone the commission should be disbanded and reformed with one that actually understand the nature and importance of debate rather than one that is only interested in the commercial side. Of course, that is not what the republicans are calling for. They just want a system more slanted towards them.


If the republican's pull out and do not have debates the Democrat can stand and point to the empty podium all they want, only people that are already supporters will care. Everyone else will not give it one more second of thought. And candidates do not need to appeal to already animated supporters.

Honestly.... no. At least not if you are talking about the situation today.

The debates are generally an opportunity for the person currently losing to score a point or 2 and gain some momentum for the actual campaign. With Biden shooting himself in the foot rather constantly, I would not upset the apple cart if I were running against him.

The story will look nothing like this in 3 years though.
