It is pretty common knowlege that the VP on the ticket is there to assume the role of POTUS in the event the POTUS is either unable to continue or, in President Biden's case chooses not to continue.
No on got "ripped off" or disenfranchised. They still get what they voted for.

When Harris was on her own, she received less than 2% of the Dem votes.
2024 Primary voters voted for Biden, not Harris; if Biden dropped out in January; it is at best questionable that Harris would win the primary.
