Restaurants are adding labor surcharges to help offset minimum wage increases

Very rare. But y'all greedy Republican folks act like that represents the majority of American Workers. You're just demonizing to justify treating your fellow Americans like shite. It makes you feel better about it.

But i assure you, most working folks i've ever known, work as many hours made available to them. So stop living in your greedy fantasy bubble. These folks are good Americans just trying to get by.

I did't say a majority of American workers, I said low income workers. Big difference. 97% of our workforce do not make minimum wage, so there is no reason for them to refuse work because they are not using any social programs.

If so few are receiving Minimum Wage, you shouldn't be concerned about it being raised. Y'all greedy white Republican folks just need to escape your greedy fantasy bubble. Most American Workers aren't the 'Evil Lazy Welfare' Boogeyman you believe they are. They're actually good fellow Americans just trying to get by.

No, most of them who remain on minimum wage are either drug users who can't pass a drug test for a better job, or they are playing the system like so many do.

Most workers who start off at minimum wage and stay on the job receive increases if they are worth a crap. When I was younger, I worked plenty of minimum wage jobs because that's what minimum wage jobs are for.

When I got a little older and decided I couldn't get the things I wanted or needed working a minimum wage job, I sought better paying jobs; jobs where I leaned things; jobs where I was able to advance myself.

Oh man, just more pathetic demonizing to justify your poor treatment of struggling fellow Americans. I guess it makes y'all greedy white Republicans sleep better at night.

You're fighting some imagined 'Evil Boogeyman.' But in reality, these folks are just hard-working fellow Americans. We're an incredibly rich nation, we can do much better for our People.

How long have you lived in this country? Do you even have an understanding about how our government should work?

It's not up to "we" to do better for our people, it's up to people to do better for themselves. That's the entire concept behind a free country and society. Getting government involved in all our personal decision making is what socialist, communist, and dictator societies are about. The only people that we should help out are those who cannot do for themselves---not those that don't feel like doing for themselves.

Y'all need to let go of your 'Their All Evil Lazy Welfare People' fantasy. I know it makes you feel justified in mistreating your fellow Americans, but it's not the reality. The vast majority of American Workers are hard-working folks just trying to get by. And our current Minimum Wage is an absolute embarrassment. We can and should do much better.

the vast majority of workers earn way more than MW so what are you whining about?

No offense, but that's absolute greedy white Republican BULLSHITE! Most Workers take all the hours they can get. Y'all really do live in some bizarre greedy fantasy bubble. You seem to hate poor folks. It's pretty evil.
have you ever employed anyone?

Have you ever made a dozen phone calls to try to get someone in to cover a sick call and have no one say yes?

Most folks i've ever known, work as many hours available to them. They're far from being 'Lazy Welfare' folks. Y'all are demonizing people who are just struggling to get by. Hopefully one day you'll see the error of your ways.
so you've never employed anyone and had everyone you call to ask to come in say no

thanks for admitting that

and where did I call anyone lazy?

You always have those that say no, it is the way it is.
which contradicts the idiot who says people will work as much as they can

Most say yes. You just choose to believe that most say no. It's part of your warped 'Their All Evil Lazy Welfare People' fantasy. Y'all greedy Republicans gotta let that fantasy go. It's hateful delusional thinking.

Your insistence on ignoring facts and the truth is almost inexplicable. Except for the fact that you are a Progressive and pretend to be so ignorant. That explains it all.

Stop beating on poor Edith, and get with God Archie. The 'Evil Lazy Welfare' Boogeyman ain't gon get ya. We're the richest nation on the planet. We can afford to help our fellow Americans out.
Nah, it creates too many lazy slobs. We became a great nation because of our backbones. Hard work, determination and self reliance leads to success. Those that tried it know what I'm talking about. Feeding failures just creates more failures.

Ha, y'all are some loony Archie Bunker kooks. Back to your recliner, it's nap time old feller. :)

I know because I have experience in the matter and you don't

and please quote me where I used the word lazy anywhere in this thread

That's all you Asshole

I'm not

I have said over and over that increases on the low end are no big deal
All I;m talking about is the idiotic push for a 15 an hour MW

Not to worry, cellblock, you can always find work in your career as fast food server.

The fact of the matter remains that the customer will pay more in order to help the fast food server earn more.
/---- I'm retired, a published author with ever increasing royalty payments, rental property owner, Continuing Education instructor, work part time for the Board of Elections and a short term option trader. I have no plans on working at a fast food restaurant unless I open one up. I won't because I'd have to hire bone head millenniums with useless college majors like Woman Studies and try to motivate them to show up and put in a days
work. No thank you.
Of course you are. Then you don't mind paying more for fast food, if you eat it.
/--- I live in the epicurean center of the world - New York. There are so many great restaurant choices I haven't eaten fast food since the 1970s when it was all I could afford while putting myself through college. BTW I earned minimum wage as a teenager with no job skills or experience. Once I built up my resume I moved on to better paying jobs. Why can't you Libtards do the same thing?

Min wage used to buy more. It used to be livable, but it has not kept up with the cost of living.

Define livable.

It was "livable" when I was 16. I didn't have any bills.

"Minimum wage" was never intended to be a wage with which one could support a family. That's just ludicrous...

/--- Unless you live in Pig Snot Nebraska on a trailer park, minimum wage was never livable. It wasn't intended to be. It was designed to help the poor earn something during the great depression because jobs were so scarce employers were taking advantage of people. By the 1950s the economy was good enough that minimum wage jobs were held mostly by teens living at home and looking for some work experience and pocket money. Businesses were willing to hire inexperienced workers and train them in exchange for a lower salary. DemocRATS expanded it to a LIVABLE wage because public schools are generating functional illiterates who can't compete as skilled labor. Flipping burgers, stocking shelves is all they can manage so they need a higher minimum wage to support a family.

The Minimum Wage Used To Be Enough To Keep Workers Out Of Poverty—It’s Not Anymore: Raising It to $10.10 Would Lift a Family of Three Above the Poverty Line

Just in case clicking on a link to find informatiOn that I thought was common knowledge to any reasonably educated person, minimum wage used to be enough to keep a family of 3 over the poverty line. Now it barely keeps one person out of poverty.

A family of three on minimum wage? Wait until you have a real job before raising a family. I'm not even going to look at that link, nobody has been able to raise a family on starting wages.

Increased wages can't truly be supported unless business goes up. More socialism = less business.

Because your belief is better than facts? It's information that is readily available.

It makes more sense to find the content to make your case instead of expecting others to read web pages to find out what you're talking about. Lazy people don't get ahead.

I've lived long enough to know when people are bullshitting me and remember how it was. No sale.

I posted the link AND the summary. You are lazy af for deciding not to click on the link. Enjoy your comforting ignorance.
