Those private hospitals are great, I'm sure, but they sure are more expensive than most of the population can afford. So explain to me again how our current healthcare system is accessible to all? People can't afford to visit a hospital when they've got Obamacare--their $10,000 + deductibles are prohibitive. Same with doctor's visits. Kimmel as a father has every right to tear up relating the close call his newborn went through. You guys slamming "emotion" vs. "logic" aren't doing so hot when it comes to finding an actual solution to the problem, though. More and more people can't afford to visit doctors. Fix it.Jimmy Kimmel's recent viral monologue is a prime example of how the left values irrational emotions over logic and reason. That is why the left supports failed ideologies such as socialism, communism, etc. Because it feels good to them. They could care less that it ends in poverty, misery, and collapse.
Jimmy Kimmel illustrated this universal truth once again when he cried during his monologue about his baby (who is ok now) and proclaimed how nobody should have to decide between saving their child's life and money (as if anyone has ever had to make that "choice"). Life saving procedures cannot be denied regardless of a person's ability to pay. In addition to that inconvenient little fact, there is this gem:
Jimmy Kimmel’s Moving Story Shows Why Private Charity Trumps GovernmentThe care, technology, and life saving treatment his family experienced was made possible by two, privately funded organizations. Both Cedars Sinai and Children’s Hospital LA are non-profit, not government-run, hospitals. This isn’t a coincidence.
When individuals are allowed to fund programs they like without a government mandate, we end up with more efficient and effective services. Hospitals are only one very important example.
The problem really begins with the perception of health care, is it merely a service that's provided or a right? This belief begins the discussion of coverage and affordability, and when you talk government you know there is going to be plenty of government bureaucracy involved along with out of control costs. Let's face it, government programs are anything but financially efficient with plenty of overhead to go around. Yet you'll find these certain groups who clams Washington can make it more affordable and cost effective, which I've yet to see a program that is without being associated to the increases in our debt or with finding cuts into what the program is actually able to provides. So are we actually talking honestly talking about reducing premiums and prescription costs to make it more affordable to the vast majority of middle class and elderly Americans, or simply providing free "entitled" health care regardless of its cost on to everyone else?
This is where I pretty much stand on the issue. We need to find ways that can bring health care premiums down for working Americans, and their families. Seniors need a health care account, that their paychecks contribute towards during their lifetime into an account of their choosing that's treated similar to an IRA. There needs to be a cushion barrier to cover the elderly that didn't have an opportunity to capitalize on such a future health investment until a senior generation has established 20 years of contributions. This does not tackle the problem of prescription costs, with the need to set up more affordable generics sooner once approved equivalent. Washington should set the options and the structure, but the private sector groups and patients should establish the overall coverage options and multiple plans ...NOT a predominant government plan that all citizens should accept as acceptable by Washington's list of coverages that must be tolerated. I started out by saying "working" Americans being defined as those that are physically and mentally capable of eventually providing for themselves without dependency of government as their own only chosen personal decision into seeking income. I believe we should be promoting and encouraging self sustainable job development with training available that encourages those endeavors.
