For one thing, South Carolina receives $7.87 from the federal gov't for every $1 they send in via federal tax. SC can't afford to secede.

Saying those states are wanting to secede is disingenuous at best. There have been secession movements, but they have not garnered anything close to majority support in those states as far as I'm aware.
