We read similar stories all over the country but this especially hits close to home to me. I went to high school in nearby Redlands and know the city well. The photos caught my eye as it's where my best friend's father worked before they closed the air base – a purely political decision.

One thing raised my hackles – a reference to “Serrano Indians” living in mansions on their reservation behind their casino. There was never any such thing as a “Serrano Indian.” The Indians who lived there before the coming of the Spanish were Tongva and they got the name “Serrano” from Yanks who tore them from mission lands to artificial reservations – naming them Serrano for Father Serra, the founder of the nearby San Gabriel Mission.
