OPEC oil has always cost exactly what they want it to cost. It's the reason they formed in the first place. They have been using their vast market leverage against the west since the oil embargo back in the seventies.

We haven't bought oil from OPEC in nearly 20 years. US imports come from Canada, Mexico and Venezuela.. After Trump's sanctions against Venezuela we increased imports from Russia.

Since most oil is bought and sold on the open market it does not matter where our oil actually comes from when OPEC uses their out-sized market share to strangle the world-wide supply to keep prices up. The price of a barrel of crude, no matter it's origin, gets set on the exchange and it's the price everyone pays.

OPEC adjusts their production to counter any increase in US production to keep the price right where they want it. Any idiot knows that by now.

But when the supply here is so robust, OPEC loses leverage, which is exactly what happened under trump. Which is exactly what was reversed by the democrat cabal the moment Biden officially hijacked the office.
