Saw a few anti circumcision liberals protesting in DC this past week

Conservatives: Should female circumcision be banned, or is it alright with y'all if our Muslim citizens go ahead and do it to their daughters here like they do in other countries?

Clitoridectomy: partial or total removal of the clitoris (a small, sensitive and erectile part of the female genitals) and, in very rare cases, only the prepuce (the fold of skin surrounding the clitoris).

Excision: partial or total removal of the clitoris and the labia minora, with or without excision of the labia majora (the labia are "the lips" that surround the vagina).

Infibulation: narrowing of the vaginal opening through the creation of a covering seal. The seal is formed by cutting and repositioning the inner, or outer, labia, with or without removal of the clitoris.

Other: all other harmful procedures to the female genitalia for non-medical purposes, e.g. pricking, piercing, incising, scraping and cauterizing the genital area.

WHO | Female genital mutilation

Female circumcision is equated to dick removal.... not removal of a useless flap of skin.. circumcision is no different than getting rid of webbed toe material, or pulling teeth to straighten them with braces, etc

Nice try though

That depends upon what kind of female circumcision. Sometimes, it just involves cutting off the clitoris "hood."

But, nice try at deflecting.

However, the question to the righties remains: Should female circumcision be banned?

Or having a babies clubbed feet repaired or their tongue clipped so they can breast feed.

To remove the clitoris, yes... if it is removing an extra useless skin growth, no...

So, conservatives are for banning things they don't like?

You mean sorta like conservatives want to ban abortions? Or, healthcare for the poor? Or, unemployment benefits? Or, food stamps?

BAN THEM ALL because you don't like it....right?

Liberals throw prancing fits if a baby's foreskin gets cut off, but have no problem killing a baby if it's inconvenient. In libby la la land, circumcision is child abuse, and killing a child is "choice".

Can you show me where conservatives want to ban healthcare for the poor, or unemployment benefits or food stamps? Why do you need to lie to make an argument?

In conservative la la land, you'll claim the right to control your own body and mutilate your penis, but deny women the right to control their own body when they're pregnant.
It's not their own penis

just sayin'

It's not her OWN body though that's involved.....it's also effects the body of her child, that has no say.

Circumcision removes the foreskin, which normally reduces negative friction. Circumcision contributes to microtears during sex, facilitating the spread of STDs.

Just sayin'

Again.. the baby is not the woman's body

And.. no child has control or say when they pierce infants, etc... not the same as ending a life... and the removal of extra skin is not the same as removal of a sex organ...

But you just keep right down that path, guys.. it is pretty much laugh inducing

Uhh.. circumcision CUTS STD risk.... but don't let fact stand in your way

It's not just 'extra skin', and it doesn't grow back and heal like a pierced ear.

Circumcision is a Jewish religious practice designed to reduce sexuality later in life, because sex in considered inherently bad, save for strictly procreative purposes.

Medical Studies on Circumcision

Circumcision may contribute indirectly to rape culture
There appears to be a very simple reason why circumcised men and their partners are having problems with their sex lives.
The circumcised man develops a thin layer of hard skin on his penis head, which decreases the sensitivity. This means that in order to reach an orgasm, he needs to work harder at it, and that can lead to a painful experience for the woman.
“We conducted a survey, but the data does not explain why these problems occur. There are, however, some good suggestions in the scientific literature,” he explains.
When the penis enters the vagina, the foreskin is pulled back. And on its way out again, the foreskin goes back to cover the penis head. This way the foreskin stimulates both the man and the woman.
The gliding in-and-out movement of the foreskin, combined with the in-and-out movement inside the vagina, constitutes what is known as ‘the gliding movement’.
“When a circumcised man moves in and out of a woman without 'the gliding movement' caused by the foreskin, it can have a painful effect on the woman's mucous membrane. This could explain the pain and the tendency towards dryness that some women with circumcised men experience

1) Tooth you yank to straighten teeth does not grow back either... neck stretching does not go back to normal either...

2) Circumcision now leads to rape 'culture'? Yes.. the whacko conclusions abound

3) You still lied on your STD conclusion...

But keep going.. I am laughing harder

Claim of Circumcision Benefit is Overstated and Premature

Further research is required to assess the feasibility, desirability and cost-effectiveness of circumcision to reduce the acquisition of HIV. This paper endorses the need for such research and suggests that, in its absence, it is premature to promote circumcision as a reliable strategy for combating HIV. Since articles in leading medical journals as well as the popular press continue to do so, scientific researchers should think carefully about how their conclusions may be translated both to policy makers and to a more general audience. The importance of addressing ethico-legal concerns that such trials may raise is highlighted. The understandable haste to find a solution to the HIV pandemic means that the promise offered by preliminary and specific research studies may be overstated. This may mean that ethical concerns are marginalized. Such haste may also obscure the need to be attentive to local cultural sensitivities, which vary from one African region to another, in formulating policy concerning circumcision.

Circumcision/HIV Claims are Based on Insufficient Evidence

An article endorsed by thirty-two professionals questions the results of three highly publicized African circumcision studies. The studies claim that circumcision reduces HIV transmission, and they are being used to promote circumcisions. Substantial evidence in this article refutes the claim of the studies.
Examples in the article include the following:

  1. Circumcision is associated with increased transmission of HIV to women.
  2. Conditions for the studies were unlike conditions found in real-world settings.
  3. Other studies show that male circumcision is not associated with reduced HIV transmission.
  4. The U.S. has a high rate of HIV infection and a high rate of circumcision. Other countries have low rates of circumcision and low rates of HIV infection.
  5. Condoms are 95 times more cost effective in preventing HIV transmission.
  6. Circumcision removes healthy, functioning, unique tissue, raising ethical considerations.
Green, L. et al., "Male Circumcision and HIV Prevention: Insufficient Evidence and Neglected External Validity," American Journal of Preventive Medicine 39 (2010): 479-82.

In National Survey Circumcision Had No Protective Effect

A survey of South African men showed that circumcision had no protective effect in the prevention of HIV transmission. This is a concern, and has implications for the possible adoption of mass male circumcision strategy both as a public health policy and an HIV prevention strategy.
Connolly, C. et al., South African Medical Journal 98(2008): 789-794.

Circumcision/HIV Have Incomplete Evaluation

The push to institute mass circumcision in Africa, following the three randomized clinical trials (RCTs) conducted in Africa, is based on an incomplete evaluation of real-world preventive effects over the long-term – effects that may be quite different outside the research setting and circumstances, with their access to resources, sanitary standards and intensive counseling. Moreover, proposals for mass circumcision lack a thorough and objective consideration of costs in relation to hoped-for benefits. No field-test has been performed to evaluate the effectiveness, complications, personnel requirements, costs and practicality of proposed approaches in real-life conditions. These are the classic distinctions between efficacy and effectiveness trials, and between internal validity and external validity.
Campaigns to promote safe-sex behaviors have been shown to accomplish a high rate of infection reduction, without the surgical risks and complications of circumcision, and at a much lower cost. For the health community to rush to recommend a program based on incomplete evidence is both premature and ill-advised. It misleads the public by promoting false hope from uncertain conclusions and might ultimately aggravate the problem by altering people’s behavioral patterns and exposing them and their partners to new or expanded risks. Given these problems, circumcision of adults, and especially of children, by coercion or by false hope, raises human rights concerns.

You still lied on your STD conclusion...

Myth: Circumcision prevents HIV/AIDS.
Reality check: Three studies in Africa several years ago that claimed that circumcision prevented AIDS and that circumcision was as effective as a 60% effective vaccine (Auvert 2005, 2006). These studies had many flaws, including that they were stopped before all the results came in. There have also been several studies that show that circumcision does not prevent HIV (Connolly 2008).

Results.  Almost a third (32.4%) of the men were circumcised (CM). Compared with uncircumcised (UC) men, CM have accumulated larger numbers of STI in their lifetime (CM = 73.4% vs. UC = 65.7%; P = 0.048), have higher rates of previous diagnosis of warts (CM = 18.8% vs. UC = 12.2%; P = 0.024), and were more likely to have HIV infection (CM = 43.0% vs. UC = 33.9%; P = 0.023). Results indicate that being CM predicted the likelihood of HIV infection (P value = 0.027).

Hmmm...the majority of children circumcised aren't Jewish, nor is it a religious rite when performed.

Try again. Or maybe you should learn to couch your phrases more precisely, moron.

You claimed it reduced STDs

I present evidence to the contrary.

That's a refutation, not a deflection.

I must have hit a sore spot; apparently, you don't like looking stupid

No... you provided a study for ONE STD.. not STDs... after you claimed that being uncircumcised lessened the transmission of STD's

Yes.. you are an idiot
