If the sun doesn't warm the earth, then we could do with out it, no? It's useless.
Your straw-man arguments are particularly retarded, IrishRumpot...and kind of insane!
No one ever said that the "the sun doesn't warm the Earth", moron. You really ARE insane.
In the real world as understood by the world scientific community....
The sun adds an enormous amount of heat energy to the Earth every minute of every day. This long wave radiation from the sun striking the Earth heats the surface of the Earth which then cools off by radiating short wave infrared radiation into the atmosphere towards outer space. Not all of this heat radiation makes it to space though. Although almost all of the gas in the atmosphere is transparent to this outgoing infrared radiation, some sizable portion of the energy is absorbed by the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which then trap most of the heat energy inside the atmosphere, warming the air, land and oceans. The more greenhouse gases there are in the air, the more the Earth heats up. The amount of outgoing radiation at the edge of space has to be in balance with the amount of heat the Earth is accumulating from the sun or an energy imbalance develops and the Earth either warms up or cools off, depending on whether the greenhouse gas levels are too high or too low. Mankind has abruptly added hundreds of billions of tonnes of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere since the Industrial Revolution. This has increased the heat trapping effect, and caused an energy imbalance that is steadily causing the Earth to accumulate heat....causing global warming and its consequent climate changes and disruptions.
The sun's energy output has remained fairly constant for a very long time, with only relatively small cyclic variations that have only a minimal effect on the climate. The current warming is the result of more of the sun's energy getting trapped by the 43% increase in CO2 levels that mankind's activities have produced...primarily by burning fossil fuels.
Here, ask NASA. They know you are dead wrong. Our "carbon footprints" do not impact the earth's climate whatsoever.
It is actually quite hilarious how utterly retaded you are, IrishRumpot. Are you REALLY THAT STUPID??? You actually imagine that NASA agrees with your denier cult insanities? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.
So , little retard, as you suggested, let's "ask NASA".
Hey NASA....What is Global Warming?
Global warming is the unusually rapid increase in Earth’s average surface temperature over the past century primarily due to the greenhouse gases released as people burn fossil fuels. The global average surface temperature rose 0.6 to 0.9 degrees Celsius (1.1 to 1.6° F) between 1906 and 2005, and the rate of temperature increase has nearly doubled in the last 50 years. Temperatures are certain to go up further.
The atmosphere today contains more greenhouse gas molecules, so more of the infrared energy emitted by the surface ends up being absorbed by the atmosphere. Since some of the extra energy from a warmer atmosphere radiates back down to the surface, Earth’s surface temperature rises. By increasing the concentration of greenhouse gases, we are making Earth’s atmosphere a more efficient greenhouse.
But NASA, what about the sun?
NASA: Solar irradiance
It's reasonable to assume that changes in the sun's energy output would cause the climate to change, since the sun is the fundamental source of energy that drives our climate system.
But several lines of evidence show that current global warming cannot be explained by changes in energy from the sun:
- Since 1750, the average amount of energy coming from the sun either remained constant or increased slightly.
- If the warming were caused by a more active sun, then scientists would expect to see warmer temperatures in all layers of the atmosphere. Instead, they have observed a cooling in the upper atmosphere, and a warming at the surface and in the lower parts of the atmosphere. That's because greenhouse gases are trapping heat in the lower atmosphere.
- Climate models that include solar irradiance changes can’t reproduce the observed temperature trend over the past century or more without including a rise in greenhouse gases.
I never in my wildest dreams thought I would meet up with anyone so brainwashed that they would believe the sun does not warm the earth.
That's funny....'cause I was just saying to myself...I never in my wildest dreams thought I would meet up with anyone so brainwashed and retarded that they would imagine that anyone at all would think that the sun does not warm the earth.
You really are insane, you know!
