Wicker calls on Biden to use the $1 billion authorization Congress approved last year in presidential drawdown authority to transfer weapons weapons to Taiwan (this is the same authority used to arm Ukraine)

Arming Taiwan is only half the Biden admin policy.

The other half is if/when China attacks Taiwan the US will defend it. Biden said that.

p.s. If we move the chip making equipment here, there is no Taiwan problem.

China's plan to re-unify Taiwan with the mainland has always been through co-operation. It will happen when Taiwan is ready.

This is just warmongering and paranoia by Americans for the same imagined purpose as the Vietnam slaughter.

Taiwan is moving away from reunification and toward sovereign independence from the communist dictatordhip

And china is threatening war if that happens

It used to be that America was able to make other nations suffer, but the problem with your plan is that China and Russia combined with the other Brics, now have the power to cause America to suffer.

In simple terms, America must offer a satisfying lifestyle to the masses, or the masses will choose a government system that does.

This is the reason why there is so much tension over China's success with a modern style of capitalism. Poor people in poor countries throughout the world are becoming aware of how China's poor have been raised up out of poverty.

America's answer to that is war.

China is a failing land of communist Nirvana

Its policies are failing

In some sense that could be, but it hasn't been for the hundreds of millions of people China has elevated up out of poverty.

Do Americans think that the leaders of poor African countries won't drill that into their people's heads?

Clearly, America must compete with gifts of assistance to those countries!

For Central American countries such as Haiti, America must at least keep its borders open.

The CCP didnt do that

Nike, Apple, and hundreds of other western companies did

But china has bit the hand that feeds it

And we would be obliged to defend Taiwan if that happens.

A PRC takeover of Taiwan would be a pretty bad thing. Luckily our involvement would probably be limited naval and air assistance, maybe putting some troops on Taiwan as a tripwire.

The Africans are starting to regret becoming indebted to china

They accepted huge loans from china that they cant repay

Our military is underfunded and that will cost American lives in a skirmish with china

It might even cost civilian lives both American and our allies should china choose to go that far

But ultimately a chinese invasion of Taiwan will fail

And as long as china realizes that I dont think they will try

They don't have to invade to eek out a win, they would just have to blockade the island.

Which is an act of war, and which would draw us in because 1) China getting away with it basically gives them carte blanche to gun for Japan and South Korea and 2) We are committed to defending Taiwan.

It’s tempting to be pessimistic about America these days. Inflation, stagnation, and the lingering effects of the pandemic threaten the American dream. Our values are under assault, and our country is being pulled apart by polarization. The rise of the Chinese Communist Party threatens our security and our way of life. The world is changing rapidly, and our policies, institutions, and leaders are not keeping pace. Our strength and our self-confidence are slipping away

Yet I remain optimistic. If the true test of a great country is its capacity for self-renewal, the US stands apart. Throughout its history, our country has continually defeated grave threats and overcome domestic divisions when the odds were stacked against us.

That’s the American story, and we can do it again.

Decline, in other words, is not inevitable, but neither is renewal. What matters is what we do next

The years ahead will undoubtedly test our resilience and place in the world. But decline is a choice. America, for all its faults, is exceptional. If we rally together and commit ourselves to the mission of renewal, our best days are yet to come

"Duty, Honor, Country: Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be. They are your rallying points: to build courage when courage seems to fail; to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith; to create hope when hope becomes forlorn."
—General Douglas MacArthur, at West Point, May 12, 1962

The West is in decline. The Australian nuclear submarine deal pushed is a red flag for that. China is on its way to TOP DOG status. And are we going to learn a lesson from that! Of course, declining world powers seem to get mad and ornery of becoming number two and/or leave a vacuum as they become one of the choir and not the conductor anymore.

America is in a real life or death fight to stop and reverse it's decline to number 2.

It's not a done deal but the war against Russia that uses Ukrainians as cannon fodder, is highly instrumental in the outcome for America.

The Ukraine is finished, by all accounts.

Chinese American psychology researcher from Stanford Jean Fan observed after visiting China:

"China is changing in a deep and visceral way, and it is changing fast, in a way that is incomprehensible without seeing it in person. In contrast to American stagnation, China's culture, self-concept, and morale are being transformed quickly and for the better"
