The first budget from Senate Democrats in four years includes nearly $1 trillion in new taxes but would not balance the budget.

The blueprint unveiled by Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray (D-Wash.) on Tuesday to her Democratic colleagues would also turn off the next nine years of the sequester and replace those spending cuts with a 50-50 mix of tax increases and spending cuts.

The budget would dedicate $100 billion to economic stimulus in the form of infrastructure spending and job training.

Murray argues that her budget cuts $1.85 trillion from deficits over 10 years. But once the sequester cuts are turned off, Murray’s budget appears to reduce deficits by about $800 billion, using the Congressional Budget Office’s baseline. The Murray budget does not contain net spending cuts with the sequester turned off.

We can play dualing sources all night, but the fact is you are just a partisan drooler.

As you've stated,it isn't the Senate's job, why did they do it?

For headlines, thats it.

Economic stimulus - Democrat reelection slush fund.

I really feel the need to correct some of the socalled facts the thread Parent is espousing.

1 - The Senate Democrats have refused to bring at least 4 House passed budgets to the floor for a vote.

2 - The President is required by law to present his budget by the first Monday in Feb. Obama has failed to meet that deadline for the past two years and what he has presented has not been budgets, as the CBO could not score them. They were wish-lists.

3 - The Republican Led House has presented a budget every year on time.

Oh stop!!!!!
Truthout is the Village Idiot, don't take it seriously

I wonder how much more progressives can destroy before the entire world starts demanding they be stoned to death with all the supplies left sitting from underfunded meaningless pet projects that failed to deliver jobs and a healthy economy.

a "budget" that taxes more and spends more.......?

:lmao:

And what do you think Paul Ryan's budget does? The same exact thing, :cuckoo: except it will be the poor, working poor and middle class getting taxed more. So I must be replying back to a millionaire?

It doesn't raise taxes. Tt does cut spending. Entitlements are going to be cut. There's no getting around that. The only question is when or how much. Either Congress scales them back now, or the government will simply stop paying them when it goes belly up. Soaking the rich isn't a feasible means of getting around that.

The Ryan budget plan does not raise taxes, and it does not cut spending. It provides for about a 4.5% increase every year for ten years. It does reduce taxes, and it bends the spending curves for Medicare and Social Security. It block grants Medicaid funds to the states and allows them to determine how their programs run. It does not cut Medicaid funding, it just takes the federal bureaucracy out of the mix.

It predicts that the tax policies will grow the economy, and the increased tax revenues will lead to a budget balance in ten years. The possibility of that happening just scares the hell out of left wing liberals.
