As of july, the total value of US military aid to Ukraine was about 50 billion.
Let's say the OP is off by 50%, and the Russians have lost 25%.
In 1981, the Defense Budget was 150 billion. In 1989 it was more than twice that, at 320 billion. That's an increase of around 9%/yr. Let's call it an average of 20 billion per year over the period.
Let's pick a midpoint of 1985....and adjust the 20 billion into 2021 dollars

The conversion factor is 2.83...meaning that Ronnie increased defense spending, on average, by 56.6 billion per year.
