Shameless Kamala Harris Rips Off Trump’s Idea for No Taxes on Tips at Las Vegas Rally (VIDEO)

Plagiarizing policy

Vice President Kamala Harris in Nevada on Saturday promised to eliminate taxes on tips, two months after former President Trump promised to do the same. :laughing0301:

I wouldn't call it plagiarizing. This no tax on tip idea wasn't something that Trump came up with. Ron Paul brought it up in 2007. And there were probably others before him.

"As early as 2007, former Rep. Ron Paul introduced legislation in the House to exempt tips from both federal income and payroll taxes, to no avail."

Trump's lying when he says Kamala stole his tip tax idea.

At the end of the day, regardless of who wins, taxes on tips won't go away. It's just campaign lies to get people to vote for them.

Bullshit.

The tax on tips predated President Reagan by a long time.

When I was a youth during the pre-RR era, I knew about waitresses with zero, or close to zero paychecks, because of money withheld for taxes on tips.

"Taxing tips began back in 1982 after Congress enacted the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act (TEFRA) as a means of generating revenue through a series of tax increases, spending cuts, and other measures."
Link.

The fact that Kamala made the promise and did the flipflop without giving President Trump any credit for the idea is despicable.

And of course, she is full of shit as well. Kamala cast the deciding vote last year for the Inflation Reduction Atrocity which included millions for new, armed IRS agents to audit and track Tip Income so that waitresses and strippers won't be able to cheat the tax man.

😂 Lol. You all are ignorant hysterics. We need more agents because many are retiring and the population is growing.

Tyranny. Progs want their tax money. They play class warfare between the same classes. As we see with the college loans. The tens of millions of people who are hard hit from the inflation are another example.

Your link is wrong.

The official W-2 form in the period long before 1982, required employers to report their employees' tips in Box 2 which calls for the reporting of "Wages tips and other compensation". There were a lot of tax changes in 1982, but the taxation of tips was already being done.

You're mistaken on that, Polish. The zero paychecks started with Reagan. They were taxing 1% on tips and businesses for the first time were responsible for making sure that tax was taken out of employees paychecks before they were cut. I was bartending back then and most of my paychecks were negative numbers. I didn't even bother to pick them up.

Reagan put tax on tips in 1982. It's been an issue ever since . Have you been living under a rock? Poor Trump, he's such a pissant. He's grasping at straws. A real man would have agreed with her .
It was Trump's idea first, Harris copied it. Oh and she signed the bill not long ago, that gave the irs the power to crack down on taxing tips. She is a hypocrite.

What a dumbass.

Trump wanted no taxes on tips, for millionaires.

That means hedge fund managers and wall Street executives will declare their bonuses and commissions as tips, avoiding taxes on millions of $$$.

Harris wants no taxes for servers and casino workers who receive tips, for working people.

You just make shit up.

And the seals clap.

And now she is talking about getting tough at the border. Sad that the Democrats have to use Republican ideas to get elected.

But make no mistake, she would never implement any of these policies.

After a bit of research, it seems that line was added to address the "tip credit" and "tip pooling" of the employer. Not so much the tipped employee.

B. Statutory and Regulatory History

i. 1966 and 1974 Amendments to the FLSA [2]

Congress created the FLSA's tip credit in 1966 by amending the definition of “wage” in section 3(m). See Public Law 89-601, sec. 101(a), 80 Stat. 830 (1966). The Department promulgated its initial tip regulations the following year. See32 FR 13575 (Sep. 28, 1967). In 1974, Congress amended section 3(m) to prohibit an employer from taking a tip credit unless, among other things, “all tips received by [an] employee have been retained by the employee, except that this subsection shall not be construed to prohibit the pooling of tips among employees who customarily and regularly receive tips.” Public Law 93-259, sec. 13(e), 88 Stat. 55 (1974). As a result, an employer that takes a tip credit may require a tipped employee to share tips with other employees engaged in occupations that customarily and regularly receive tips, but it cannot use employees' tips for any other purpose or require tipped employees to share them with employees who do not customarily and regularly receive tips. By setting conditions under which an employer may take a tip credit, the statute makes plain that Congress intended these conditions to apply only to employers who take such a credit. Section 3(m)(2)(A) contains no indication that Congress intended for these restrictions to apply to employers that do not take a tip credit and that use tip pools for other purposes, such as by sharing tips with “back-of-the-house” employees like cooks and dishwashers.

You don't want to invest in education? Look around the world. We're not keeping up in science and math.

Progs are going to lie until it hits them. And then it will be too late. If totalitarianism is a natural progression, Then the powerful will hire Deplorables also as those that supported their rise will be demanding their share from a reduced economy. Deplorables remembering how they were treated will have no problem using the laws that will exist in that time to remove Progressive causing problems and even competing for power. You see how Garland has treated people. You may agree. It will be used against you someday. The Patriot Act, Homeland Security and the DOJ are voracious creatures and there is no shortage of despicable humans who will use the laws against the peasants and others.
