Schools should not contradict parents' teaching.

I they do they should be imprisoned.
You mean if parents teach their kids the Earth is only 6,000 years old, the schools should keep those poor kids in everlasting ignorance?

They might grow up to vote for Donald Trump!

There was a girl who got raped in a study hall at a local school. The father got wind of it and demanded that the teacher explain herself as to how she could have let that happen. The teachers comment was inexplicable, she said that it was not her job to teach the children morality.

Link? Your anecdotal stories don't hold up.

The state does not care what parents believe. If the parents don't agree with the state, they are the ones who can go to prison.

So, why can't they be taught both? Why is it that liberals don't want to tell a young lady that NOT having sex, an act that will result in a baby, is an option?
In sex education classes, the students ARE taught about the abstinence option.

They are taught ALL options.

Oh yeah....Sure they are...My bet is that the day for condom application is more intense than teaching that 13 year old that spreading her legs will result in a pregnancy....But hey, not to worry right? I mean we have a last ditch method of contraception, we can just kill it, and suck it right on out of there....Sad.
Did you come to this topic to teach us how utterly ignorant you are of what goes on at school?

Okay, we get it.

Nah, I raised two kids through the public system, I am well aware of "what goes on at school".... I am just saying, why teach anything if we are going to tell kids that they can just kill the resulting baby with no conscience repercussions....Hell, we won't even call it what it is....And I think that is sad.

And that is pretty much where we are as a society. We send children to school for 8 hours out of the day in a moral vacuum and hope they get moral teaching at home for a few hours out of the day in the evening.

Make not mistake, not teaching morality is still taking a position on morality. It teaches the children that there is no real morality, only relative morality that they can make up as they please.

Something happened with this post...I don't understand why the site has to string all conversations that came before this entry...Surely when the 'reply with quote' button is hit, then just the person you are quoting shows up....otherwise we get stuff like this...I'll address what I think was your response to me....

The girl in the library is a sad story, and had I been the parent of that girl, the school would have been firing that teacher for failing to keep my child safe. But that double standards abound from liberals that have taken over our education system is an understatement...

Yes, abstinence should be taught alongside all other forms of birth control. Teenagers are going to have sex. It's a normal fact of life.

Still waiting on that link, Votto, about the girl raped in study hall and the teacher said they don't teach morality.

I guess your parents didn't teach you about the immorality of lying.

Abstinence should be one of the lessons within a sex ed curriculum.

It should be pointed out that it is the worst way to practice birth control, because girls practicing abstinence in reality often do not.

Girl raped in high school hallway as class goes on

Students at Wicomico County schools are required to follow a code of conduct, which lays out certain things students cannot do so that a safe and positive learning environment is maintained.

One behavior not allowed –– that also is a crime –– is sexual assault, described as a "physical sexual attack on another person during school hours or during any school-supported activity."

The superintendent called the case gut-wrenching and wants to make sure any problem students are stopped before they commit a crime.

"Their behavior flies in the face of our community," Fredericksen said.

Teens who have received abstinence-only education have been shown to be more likely to get pregnant than teens who received birth control education.

That answers my question I asked about about the REAL WORLD.

So, why can't they be taught both? Why is it that liberals don't want to tell a young lady that NOT having sex, an act that will result in a baby, is an option?
I agree. Abstinence should be taught. Methods of birth control should be taught. The risks to having sex, protected and unprotected should be taught. That being said, parents need to be actual parents to their minor children.

Please if you wouldn't mind, show us some statistics that make your point, as just because you say it, doesn't make it true.

I provided a link. In my very next post.

All true Christian know that abstinence does not prevent pregnancy. Case in point:

The Virgin Mary got knocked up without ever playing 'hide the weenie'.

So it's a fundamental Christian belief that abstinence doesn't work.
I can hardly believe you went there. I don't think any other forms of birth control will work either if it's God's intention to knock a girl up.

Teen Pregnancies Highest In States With Abstinence-Only Policies

Mississippi continues to have the highest teen birth rate, with 55 births per 1,000 girls. New Hampshire has the lowest rate at just under 16 births per 1,000 girls.

Mississippi does not require sex education in schools, but when it is taught, abstinence-only education is the state standard. New Mexico, which has the second highest teen birth rate, does not require sex ed and has no requirements on what should be included when it is taught. New Hampshire, on the other hand, requires comprehensive sex education in schools that includes abstinence and information about condoms and contraception.

Absolutely, and I would add to that, for g5000 as well, that too many parents today don't care, or are too busy to look after what their kids are up to. They don't set clear boundries that make it clear that the children shouldn't be going that far. And it doesn't help when you have a segment of society promoting that it is perfectly normal to kill their unborn child in the name of convenience....

Straight from a liberals mouth. Liberals love to be immoral, just look at all the pervs out there who watch child porn. Big market and even Bill Clinton wants it.

Will The Jeffrey Epstein Pedophile Case Snare Clinton?
Former President Bill Clinton visited the hedonistic private island of a billionaire pedophile who police found was engaging girls as young as 12, multiple times. Now a new lawsuit may compel the former president to testify under oath about what he was doing there. The New York Post reported that Hillary is furious that Bill is mired in the scandal.
At one time, sex was between 2 people who were in love and to bring children into the world. Today it is all about what ever feels good, and if you get pregnant then abort it, don't be punished with a baby. I am sick of you liberals, for you immoral values. Done with this topic..

Half of all abortions are due to no birth control of any kind being used during the sex act which led to the unwanted pregnancy. Another fifth are due to the improper or inconsistent use of birth control.

It then follows that we could substantially decrease the rate of abortion in the US by increasing the use of birth control and increasing education about birth control.

Once abortions are substantially reduced, then they become more stigmatized, and we would probably see another drop.

That's why, as a pro-lifer, I very much favor the increase of birth control usage and birth control education.

Nothing else has worked to reduce abortions. And if we repeal Roe v. Wade, which I believe should be done as a matter of principle, we will not see a decline in abortions. There were nearly a million abortions a year before Roe v Wade.

We have let the ignorant extremists of both sides control the conversation for far too long, with the result of the number of annual abortions being minimally changed in all that time.
