Should Governments regulate fraudulent religions?

Fraud is a broad term that refers to a variety of offenses involving dishonesty or "fraudulent acts". In essence, fraud is the intentional deception of a person or entity by another made for monetary or personal gain. Fraud offenses always include some sort of false statement, misrepresentation, or deceitful conduct.

Most governments and countries have fraud laws of some kinds. They generally interfere with religious fraudsters only when physical harm is being done to our gullible citizens yet ignore the monetary theft that the fraudsters fleece from their victims. Prosperity ministries are the most flagrant of these immoral religions, but all religions based on demonstrable lies would be included in this question.

Our governments are quite good at acting against obvious fraudsters yet seem reluctant to protect our more gullible citizens when it comes down to religions.

Religions, to me, get a free pass to lie and steal all they can from victims, especially the older citizens even when governments know about the fraud.

I begin to see the inaction of governments on these religious fraudsters as a dereliction of duty.

Do you?

Christianity in America would be in deep trouble.

TV Evangelicals are Satan walking the Earth, and evangelicals voted for Trump by 80%. The most immoral person to ever run for office. Fraud? The Christian church in the US is the largest money laundering scam in the history of the world.

1st of all, there is no "Christian Church. 2nd, how exactly does a church launder money?

Notice how he won't respond except for stupidity to point 1.

No. Now send me 20 bucks for your ultimate redemption and everlasting salvation in the arms of the Lord.

Cash is preferred.

How is that different than States hawking lotto tickets?

Just replace salvation with millions of dollars.

There is no such thing as "The Christian Church"

If you are going to despise something, at least take the effort to learn about it.

The Church is the body of Christ. The "Christian" church simply refers to all Christians, together, regardless of specific (Christian) denomination.

I know that, but Issac "full of himself" Newton is calling out one big actual organisation, and I'm asking him to back it up.

I'm not offering odds or a cash payout. Just send me your money on blind faith that it will lead to you being cradled in the Loving arms of Our Lord for Eternity (after you die of course and can no longer send me money!) Did I say 20 dollars? I mean 20 dollars a week........

20 a week is more like people keeping their gym membership open when they never go.

For those who don't know what someone means by 'The Christian Church' you are either a hermit or you purposely reject anything that doesn't fit your dogmatic world view.

For those who guessed number two ding ding ding ding ding ding...either go do some research or save your ignorant claptrap for those in your bubble.

Doubling down when caught be lazy is not the way to go here.

Are you talking about the "One Apostolistic Church", ie.e the Roman Catholic Church? Are you talking about Lutherans, Episcopalians, or one of the myriad baptist derived Churches?

Show me a link for "The Christian Church"

The difference between fraudulent religions and “real” ones are so small and contentious that it would never work.

So better to let all the fraudsters break the law just because a few might get off.

Nice that all your laws are not enforced like that.

Fraudulent religions? You mean, like, Islam which is a totalitarian manifesto for world domination masquerading as a religion?

Good luck with with that one!

That would be one of the worst but there are many more.

Government can only get involved in actual fraud, regardless of the source.

Selling people hope and dreams could never be made illegal, if so progressives would all be in prison.

If all that lying for money that religions do is not fraud to you then look at how fraud is described again for the first time.

The government should not regulate any religion, period

Sent from my iPhone using USMessageBoard.com

Not even the Branch Dividians?

Why would you want all fraudsters to be prosecuted but not the religious fraudsters?

Why the double standard?

Because I am a firm believer in the Constitution.

Your constitution is a poorly written piece of garbage.
Hence all the amendments.

Which clause says that the government is to allow open and flagrant fraudulent theft from the most vulnerable and gullible in your country?

Maybe the government should regulate science.

It does.

Remember Bush and stem cell research that was law till your industry noticed they were not keeping up with the profit making ability of other countries.

Many is more important to the U.S. than morals or ethics.

That has been made quite clear with Reps holding their noses while voting for Trump and their party line.

The U. S. has been the laughing stock ever since.
