Shut It Down!

Under FDR the nation had one-man government, euphemistically called the 'Imperial Presidency.'

We lost the Constitution.

We are about to see whether or not this nation becomes a one-party government....essentially a totalitarian monarchy.

It could be argued that we're already there, Republicans and Democrats two hands of the same monarch with a royal court complete with giant corporations, special interest groups, political class sycophants and legions of faceless bureaucrats. The only difference between what we have now and the European Monarchies is that we get the illusion of choice when it comes to which hand gets to slap us around and we get to desperately cling to whatever liberty hasn't yet become too inconvenient for our betters to suppress.

The government worshipers of course will strenuously object, since they've been so imbued with the doctrine of statist apologists that any deviation from the mode of ever growing and centralized power seems "radical" to them. They seem to be either unwilling or incapable of thinking this progression through to it's logical conclusion, even though history is replete with examples of what the end game looks like.

Just look at what's going on today, the citizenry is at war with itself over which hand of the monarch gives the less painful beatings and all the while the increasingly enriched ruling class is laughing their heads off at how effective their game plan is working out. We are very well advanced on our journey down the road to serfdom, welcome aboard and enjoy the view.

"Many now believe that with the rise of the totalitarian State the world has entered upon a new era of barbarism. It has not. The totalitarian State is only the State; the kind of thing it does is only what the State has always done with unfailing regularity, if it had the power to do it, wherever and whenever its own aggrandizement made that kind of thing expedient. Give any State like power hereafter, and put it in like circumstances, and it will do precisely the same kind of thing. The State will unfailingly aggrandize itself, if only it has the power, first at the expense of its own citizens, and then at the expense of anyone else in sight. It has always done so, and always will." -- Albert Jay Nock, The Criminality of the State

Look carefully at the OP.

In it, you will see that there is the Democrat Party, and the Democrat-lite Republicans and the Republicans.

And that is the essence of the post.

Bullshit. The essence of your post is that the GOP was right in 1995 and they would be right to force a shutdown now. Nowhere in your OP did you bang on the GOP.

Give it up.
Can't read can you? Take off the hyper-partisan blinders.

No. I didn't say that. However, where the sequester did hurt the citizenry directly, you saw both parties get together and fund those specific services.

I don't want that to happen again, total destruction at the behest of the GOP...thats the ticket.

the public was only hurt because obama planned it that way.
Unlikely

the sequester was tiny compared to the annual budget. obozo took the cuts where the public would feel them. he did that because his view of government is more and more spending, paid for by more and more taxes.

332-206
Apparently We the People agree with him, and we'll return 80%+ of the Senators and 90%+ of the House members to their jobs in 2014.

Yet you'll only blame one guy as long as he's Obama....right?

52/48 if you look at how the citizens voted. If a large number of conservatives had not stayed home, obama would have been a one term failure instead of a two term failure.

When does obama become responsible for anything that happens on his watch? Never?

Still got a crush on me, I see. How's about a reach around, sister?

If the government shuts down it will be because obama vetoed a budget that defunded obamacare. It won't be the GOPs fault but obama's fault.

The Republicans in Congress in the latest poll have a 19% approval 73% disapproval rating.

That's what their scorched earth obstruction-at-all-costs policy has gotten them.

Escalating the policy that got them down to 19% approval would seem to the rational mind to be insanity.

7. "...what happened in November of 1995 is very misleading.
Republicans certainly did not suffer at the polls. They lost only nine House seats, a relatively trivial number after a net gain of 54 in 1994. They actually added to their majority in the Senate, picking up two seats in the 1996 cycle.

8. More important, they succeeded in dramatically reducing the growth of federal spending. They did not get everything they wanted, to be sure, but government spending grew by just 2.9 percent during the first four years of GOP control, helping to turn a $164 billion deficit in 1995 into a $126 billion surplus in 1999. And they enacted a big tax cut in 1997.

9. If that’s what happens when Republicans are defeated, I hope the GOP loses again this year.

We are about to find out if there is any hope of a two-party system in the United States.

Conditions as they exist today are FAR different than they were in 1995, almost 20 years ago.

Most importantly, dimocraps had just come off of one of the worst ass-whuppins in American electoral history.

And not in just ONE House... We crushed them in the House of Representatives (+54 Seats) and took 8 of 22 democrat Senate election races.

And to further rub their faces in it, democrat Richard Shelby changed parties to make it a 9 Member pick up in the Senate and give us the Majority.

In 1995, we had a majority in both Houses, Bill the rapist Clinton was scared to death and dimocraps everywhere were on the run.

And we STILL lost the Prom Queen vote!!!

And that was back when the DISGUSTING FILTH in the LSM still pretended to be fair.

They don't even bother with that anymore.

It would be stupidity beyond anything I've ever seen Republicans do to shut the government down under present day circumstances.

Just dissolve the fucking party if you're going to do that.

Here's what we need to tell people, "You stupid motherfuckers. You voted for these asswipes. You knew how bad these people were in getting us out of the economic down turn and you voted for them anyway. We told you, we warned you about everything that's going on and we're not going to commit political suicide just to assuage your feelings of impotence. Like John Roberts said, 'You want better laws, elect better Law Makers'. Fuck off and have fun at your parents/child's/brother's/in-law's until they get sick of you and put you on the curb.

Eat shit."

THAT is what we need to tell the American Electorate and Republicans, too.

"This is on you. You voted for them. Suck on it."

And watch the inevitable outcome of marxist philosophy.....

Indeed. Ultimately the responsibility rests with the people.

Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?”

Read their statements and see if you can discern the difference.
Better yet, find someone with a more extensive education, a junior high school grad, to explain it to you.

There is no such poll. You simply lie.
The generic ballot shows even split GOP/Dem. Approval ratings for Congress as a whole are poor. Recall that the Senate is controlled by Harry Reid (D-Corruption) and the Democrats.

please stop lying. the poll you are attempting to quote addresses congress as a whole, not either party. Congress has a 19% approval rating. obama is at 44%. 63% want obamacare repealed. Even the leader of the teamsters has come out against obamacare--because he finally woke up and realized it will hurt his members---how will they pay their union dues if they only get 30 hours work and have to pay a high premium or a tax penalty for crappy insurance coverage
