ok, so give me an example of how it will hurt us. do a math figure for me on what it will mean.

first thing you need to do is figure out how a tariff works....

second thing is stfu until you do.
I know how a tariff works. I asked you to explain how it will hurt the average joe? why won't you? it seems you don't know or you can't do math.

yet you keep proving you dont know your ass from your elbow ..
explain how the tariff works and let's see then. come on walk the walk harold.
I salute you for actually trying to engage these bastards. You're a better man than I am.
when one has facts on one's side, there is no battle to lose.

I was never against improving healthcare I just didn’t and still don’t see Obamacare as the answer which does not excuse the Republicans lack of a better alternative. What’s also interstellar is you using the same argument against tariffs you once used in favor of them.
I haven't made any argument for or against tariffs...scan through the thread and you'll see.

I'm simply asking, WHY have Republicans did a 180 now?

As for Obamacare, you'd be dishonest if you're asserting that Republicans, as a whole, haven't been saying that nothing was wrong w/the status quo as related to the American health care system. I don't believe I singled out you as the one doing that, but your chosen party, as a whole.

Will a tax increase hurt your average joe??? That's what these tariffs will get you
it hurts for what ever is taxed. like gas in illinois just doubled to 38 cents a gallon, a $0.19 increase, a $1.90 per ten gallons of gas. I'm fairly confident that hurts any driver in illinois, even tourists. businesses, everyone! you don't think businesses will increase the price of their product to cover the increase in their spending now? never, and I mean never, do you whiny left ever say anything about that kind of shit. but if it's orangemanbad, you're like stink on shit. fk you, disingenuous bitches.

state taxes and international tariff's are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS-

see what I mean Mr.ass/elbow ?
no they aren't, the passage of the tariff is passed as an increase in price of a product at the percent of the tariff cost. why are you so stupid?

well to be honest, you should point out where we were 180 degree different first.

For years, nay...DECADES, we've been told by self-professed conservatives and American Republicans that tariffs are defacto taxes and therefore are verboten.

Now that Trump has been levying tariffs left and right, seems that the American self-professed conservatives are all for it.

So is that old and historical trope now only good for the garbage bin?

Are Republicans and other self-professed Conservatives in America now PRO-TARIFFS?!??

I’ve been saying we need to implement tariffs for 20 years. It’s the number one thing I always hated about the GOP, how they put corporate profits over keeping jobs in the states.

I’ve always been pro-tariff.

/——/ Your TDS is preventing you from seeing the end game.

Traditional conservatives have always favored protectionism. Until the 1960s, the Republican Party was protectionist. A whole slew of famous Republicans, starting with Abraham Lincoln, favored high tariffs.

I read where a 5% tariff on Mexico could push an extra 800$ a year on American taxpayers.

up that tariff to 25% like Goldilocks said he would do then remind me about tax cuts.
/—-/ Don’t buy Mexican crap and there is no tariff problem for you.

I was back when jobs were moving too. doesn't mean that I like tariffs. It is a solution for a problem until the problem is gone. it's called a work around.

but a tariff is a tax correct? just so we're on the same page. the tax on a gallon of gas is a tariff on me to pay for a product I use in my car. how is it different?

Both parties allowed jobs to be shipped overseas for decades.

President Trump was the first to recognize that and be willing to actually do something about it. That is why he crushed the GOP field, and Hillary.

Before the election, Trump will announce he's dropping the tariffs because Mexico has agreed to pay for the wall and stop migrants at the border and China has agreed to play nice
to which Obrador and Xi Jinping will say
:bsflag:
Which will have no effect on Trump as he explains to his supports that dropping the tariffs that are being paid by China and Mexico will be the biggest US tax cut in history.

BTW, that's when he became very interested in becoming president.

but every supplier of gas in the state of illinois will tariff me on my gas purchases. I'd have to get out of state to avoid it. that's too far to travel. the folks on the border however, will fill up in the border states and drive the stations in the state out of business.

You want a reason for the tariff change the realization that as a nation we can’t continue to let China and others screw us over any more for those left and right who don’t like the use of of tariffs come up with an alternative. As for healthcare Republicans deal with it much like Democrats do illegal immigration and border security.

Do republicans and conservatives have a reputation for being against tariffs? I don't recall. Were liberals pro-tariff during the Obama years? Maybe not because Obama didn't give a damn about the unfair trade policies the U.S. had to endure and his V.P. was skimming money from the trade policies with China.
