Socialism threads bandwagon

Yeah, Jesus, Paul, Peter, John, etc, were all hateful bigots, huh. Your mask is slipping.

No, they were not. But yet you read about them and think that you are supposed to be one...how does that work?

Where did Jesus tell you to hate anyone?
Disagreement with someone is not hating. Idiot.

That is about as close as anyone has come to giving a definition, thanks for doing that.

Is it socialism to give farmers money not to plant crops?
That is about as close as anyone has come to defining socialism that agrees with the way you define it.

I am a socialist and that definition is miles from what I believe.

It is not even close to how I would define it, but at least he had the balls to actually offer his definition. more than anyone else on here would do.

I'm content to let socialists define it themselves. Here's what the Democratic Socialists of America have to say:

What is Democratic Socialism?
Democratic socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically—to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few. To achieve a more just society, many structures of our government and economy must be radically transformed through greater economic and social democracy so that ordinary Americans can participate in the many decisions that affect our lives.

That sounds just like government ownership of all means of production and distribution to me

Yep. But it seems that liberals are on a campaign to muddle the definition. I wonder why.
They want to dupe people into voting for the government to take away their freedoms

hence the term "democratic" socialism

Socialism is guaranteed income by the government. Socialism is healthcare for everyone that should work but don't. Socialism is free food for people that won't work but are able.

That is about as close as anyone has come to giving a definition, thanks for doing that.

If liberty and equality, as is thought by some, are chiefly to be found in democracy, they will be best attained when all persons alike share in government to the utmost.

too late for that. black codes ruined that line of reasoning for the right wing.

Capitalism has a natural rate of unemployment;

don't work if you don't have the moral fortitude to earn more, and pay more in taxes and create more in demand.

It is not just liberals, those on the right use the word to describe anything and everything they do not like that the government is doing.

The 10 to 20 threads a week on this board talking about socialism are not started by the liberals on the board.

Did you even read this thread and all the different definitions given by those on the right?

Well, many of the nitwits I don't bother reading at all, so maybe not. But most of what I've seen is the usual - state control of the economy. Then the liberals go on a denial spree.

Does the state control any of the economy in this country?

There is a difference between controlling parts of the economy via regulation of some sort and owning the means of production and distribution which would mean the government owns the economy

They have a lot of influence with regulations and special tax deals.

So, in your estimation there is no socialism in this country? is that what you are saying since the government does not own the means of production or distribution?
