"And after the summit, when Trump made the shock announcement that the US would stop its massive war games with South Korea -- a longtime Chinese goal -- it was clear that Beijing had made its mark on the proceedings."

What China Wants On Trade And North Korea

"YUN: Well, China does want the Singapore summit to happen because the summit will represent the de-escalation of the tension, which China sees as intrinsically in China's national interest."

"back in 2017, it was President Trump who kept saying that if China helps us on North Korea, the trade deal they're going to get is going to be so much better. And guess what? The trade deal they feel that they're getting is not so much better. It's actually so much worse."

https://www.quora.com/What-does-China-really-want-from-North-Korea

" China needs a buffer zone between them and US-Japan-ROK alliance. DPRK is more and more aggressive, that’s why China seemed to align itself with Trump implementing sanctions against the regime. "

China is a massive player in this whole thing. Without China, there is no deal with North Korea.

What does China want?

Firstly China wants the US out of the region. It'd be like the Soviets going to Cuba, and the US did everything it could to make sure that it didn't work out.

China doesn't want tension in the region. Why not? Well, the North Koreans would try and leave North Korea in the even of a war and would end up in China, causing China problems.

Secondly China doesn't want the US on its border, which would happen is North and South Korea united in some way, either through war or through peaceful means. So they'd only let reunification happen if the US was out of the picture totally.

Thirdly Trump is playing with trade deals. The Chinese know that Trump is in line for an election campaign in two years, and the midterms, which impact Trump massively happen in 5 months. China can put so much pressure on Trump with tariffs that it'll be Trump losing supporters in November, not the Chinese who have no elections ever.

Fourthly China doesn't particularly like North Korea, but it serves a purpose. However like a little brother who thinks he's got his older's protection, Kim might get too arrogant and China will use the US as a way of smacking him down. Pretending not to be around while the bully goes and scares the younger brother.

No deal will be possible without China.

The world/America/Trump is certainly receiving a hell of a lot more help from China than he is from the Democratic Party and their fake news propagandists, I find that obvious fact quite disturbing..

Trump isn't get any help from China. China is looking out for its own interests. Trump is escalating the trade war. China's interests aren't in a trade war. Perhaps China will make the US understand this soon.

Sheesh, make up your mind but either way Democrats/fake newsers such as yourself are complete negatives to a viable solution.

Why would they do that?

China doesn't need North Korea. It wants those islands.

Sometimes thinking is better done with knowledge.

Trump isn't get any help from China. China is looking out for its own interests. Trump is escalating the trade war.

So when we/Trump match China's tariffs on us..... Trump is escalating a trade war????
Are you seriously going to defend China's trade and corporate spying practices????

No, I'm not going to defend China's policies, especially the spying.

I just think there are better ways of doing such things.

The problem is Trump wants China's help here, and then screws over China there.

Fridge.....the establishment in DC...the hate Trumpers are getting rich on the status quo and your family is losing out...one way or another...your family is losing out...Trump is saying no more....from now on as long as he is president we will make deals that benefit us or we won't make that deal...no matter who's palm gets greased.....

Well, I partly agree with this.

However where I disagree is that Trump is doing something about this. He's not.

He's making it worse.

Maybe his attempt would be more successful if people like you would tell their representatives to work with the president to solve this problem once and for all.....just sayin..... I mean if you really care about the children.....just sayin....

Or maybe his attempts at screwing everyone over would be much better of their representatives continued not representing the people they're supposed to represent.

This is the problem. You think Trump is doing the right thing, a lot of people don't.

That's one issue.

The other issue is that representatives don't represent, elections don't work as they're supposed to, democracy doesn't really exist, the Koch brothers, among other rich people, are controlling politics and making sure the poor people get fucked over.

Of the first world western countries, the US has the WORST income inequality. The worst murder rate. The highest costs for healthcare. The worst democracy.

The poor people are getting a raw deal massively. You're better off poor in every other first world western country than you are in the US.

So you agree with Obama...lead from behind and hope for the best?......and find a way to enrich yourself in the process? keep things as they are? how long?...

We have more freedom than other nations so that freedom is reflected in income inequality.. and the murder rate...you have a right to be a lazy bum and you have the freedom to associate...do you want to change that?
And you can thank Obama for the rise in health insurance......don't even try and debate that.....

The poor people are getting a raw deal massively.
Welcome to reality............the poor always get a raw deal...all over the world.....but if you think the poor in the United States know real poverty you need to travel more........

No, I don't agree with Democrats or Republicans.

I don't like the system in place, I don't like the two corrupt parties taking over, I don't like how they spend their energy, money and time making sure that the people don't understand the system they're in. I don't like how people when confronted with the reality just toddle off to their partisan positions.

I don't like any of it.

This is why I support Proportional Representation. One person, one vote. Not the fucking crap of "one person in Wyoming, three votes, but it doesn't matter because your state is so insignificant you'll never get to decide who is president anyway, one person California, one vote but you'll never get to decide either."

In Germany there are six parties in the Bundestag. In regional parliaments there are as many, if not more.

The US has one senator who is from a party that isn't Republican or Democrat, that's in 50 state senates and the Federal Senate. That's appalling, especially as that's the US's third party. In Germany the third party has real power, often it's in coalition with another party, actually helping to rule the country.

Health insurance is a con. The US Federal govt spends MORE money per capita on healthcare than the UK govt, and the UK govt gets a whole single payer system for that. Corruption is rife in US healthcare. You end up paying like 30% - 50% of your insurance money just on corrupt practices, not on actual healthcare.
Obamacare was shit, Trumpdon'tcare is shit, what came before it was shit. It's all a fucking con.

The rich want to keep it that way, they tell you shit that's not true so you'll make sure it stays. They give horror stories about other systems that don't take into account most of what exists, or what could exist.

The rich are fucking laughing at you, and you don't even know it.

The poor people are getting a raw deal massively.
Welcome to reality............the poor always get a raw deal...all over the world.....but if you think the poor in the United States know real poverty you need to travel more........

They do. But the poor in Sweden, Norway, Germany, Finland, Austria, they don't get so much of a raw deal as they do in the US.

Now, are we arguing that if you get a raw deal, it doesn't matter how much of a raw deal you get, or are we arguing that it's better to get less of a raw deal than more of a raw deal?

the Chinese revolution was an act of self-immolation designed to destroyed everything that's great about China.

in N Korea, the deranged Stalinist politics has created a land of stunning desolation.

no wonder N Korea and China are allies. they want to destroy their own people.

China under Mao and China now are two very different things.

That they still use Mao's image is laughable. Everything Mao stood for has gone.
