Incidents in 2010 reveal how if a black shooter defends themself against a white attacker, the burden of proof is much higher on them. Also, if a woman defends herself from abusive ex, even though the ex confirms his role in being the aggressor, and ex-wife's warning shot was not intended to harm him, she gets 20 years in prison.

?Stand your ground? law helps white defendants a lot more than black ones - Salon.com

"In the most comprehensive effort of its kind, the Tampa Bay Times has identified nearly 200 "stand your ground'' cases and their outcomes. The Times identified cases through media reports, court records and dozens of interviews with prosecutors and defense attorneys across the state.

Among the findings:

• Those who invoke "stand your ground" to avoid prosecution have been extremely successful. Nearly 70 percent have gone free.

• Defendants claiming "stand your ground" are more likely to prevail if the victim is black. Seventy-three percent of those who killed a black person faced no penalty compared to 59 percent of those who killed a white."

Florida 'stand your ground' law yields some shocking outcomes depending on how law is applied | Tampa Bay Times

While I don't have a problem with such stand your grounds laws on the surface, or even killing bad guys, I do have a problem when the legal system is so obviously biased favoring one ethnicity over another. Or one sex.

In a "stand your ground" case the person lying dead likely wasn't "the victim" but, rather, the perpetrator. The "victim" in such cases is the person who prevailed because he or she was armed.

If the above poll was taken by a conservative group then the results would be very, very different. The poll takers determine the outcome these days.
