State of the Union

Our economy is adding jobs – but too many people still can’t find full-time employment. Corporate profits have rocketed to all-time highs – but for more than a decade, wages and incomes have barely budged. It is our generation’s task, then, to reignite the true engine of America’s economic growth – a rising, thriving middle class. It is our unfinished task to restore the basic bargain that built this country – the idea that if you work hard and meet your responsibilities, you can get ahead, no matter where you come from, what you look like, or who you love.

By all means.....bring on the class warfare

who the hell speaks that way?
or who you love...is this man a President or a damn preacher?

MY GAWD

Great speakers speak that way

And it is long overdue. We have spent 30 years pandering to the ultra rich.

Only the rich can give you a job
Only the rich can drive this economy
Sacrifice now and you will see your reward later
Send money to the top and it will trickle down as jobs and prosperity for all

Well it didn't work. Give money to the rich and they just keep it. Was that so hard to predict?

.

Dang, I somehow missed another political speech. Shoot.

Okay, let me guess how a couple of networks reacted:

MSNBC: "O my gawd, that was the greatest speech ever, wasn't that the greatest speech ever? O my gawd"

Fox: "Obama is a Marxist Leninist Stalinst Carterist Muslim Kenyan who is out to destroy the country and turn us into North Korea"

Close?

.

Almost. The pundits on MSNBC will sometimes "bash" the President whereas Fox always does.

I stopped reading this thread last night on about page 6, I couldn't sit here any longer. I turned off the TV and picked up a book....

But this is what I heard from the president,:

We have to spend more and we have to tax more.....That is all, same time, same speech, next year.

We cannot survive by reducing the deficit in 10 or 20 years. We need to reduce the debt and do it now. I don't understand why people can't see that...

I like what I hear him saying about our high schools modernizing with technology. Prepare our kids for today. Not 1950

yea and then of course only the "good" districts benefit from that......

I've seen the same cop at two different schools. One where he looked like the wanted to protect the parents and the students and at the other like he wanted to bust the parents and the students. Something wrong here? Ya, think?

You and Marco Rubio watched the same speech I see. :doubt:

Apparently, some are doing it again this year - Rs and Ds sitting next to each other. Good for them.

Others have chosen to show they don't give a damn about their own country and are boycotting.

They have consistently refused invitations to the WH and to Camp David and tonight, some won't even bother to show up. I hope that President Obama does not keep trying to end the hyper-partisanship the Rs are so committed to. I hope its "No more Mr Nice Guy" the next four years because the opposite hasn't worked at all.

I love the message that Robert Reich had for Obama...

Robert Reich: Obama needs to batter GOP over the head for blocking jobs bill | The Raw Story

No more Mr. Nice Guy...those days are OVER Obama!

in order to do that Marc.....he would have to lead.....so don't hold your breath....

Say this on the Raw Story site when looking at the above link.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) has a perfectly good explanation for why he awkwardly reached for a water bottle during his Tuesday night response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address: It was a message from God.
Raw Story (Rubio: The water-bottle moment was a message from God | The Raw Story)

What was the message? "Stop talking."

Trained seals are running this country. See how they all stand up and clap when someone promises them a free puppie? :clap2:

A chicken in every pot. Won the war in Afghanistan. Cut the military budget but it will somehow maintain it's current capabilities. Jobs for everyone. New schools for everyone. New education standards for everyone. High school diploma AND a college trade certificate for everyone. New roads and bridges for everyone. Oh, and it won't cost the taxpayer anything at all for all of this. Oh, and the deficit will not go up as a result of all of this.

Fugging morons!:cuckoo:

Actually the clapping this time might be the least I have ever seen. Not that I have seen every SOTU given but I have seen a few. It had a very different tone than I was expecting.

Lying about Obama is making me thirsty!

Rubio nailed it------be scared libtards, be very scared. your socialist marxist dictator has lost his clothes.

logic and common sense are returning to the national debate. Marco Rubio and Rand Paul both told it like it is.
