Strange but accurate predictor of whether someone supports Donald Rump

Lincoln
Mckinley
Eisenhower
Nixon
Baby Bush
Sarah Palin
Trump

By golly, devolution is real!
It's funny how the only Republicans that libs have respect for are all dead.

From the mouths of boobs.

You answer your own question. Someone has changed for the worse going down that list. And it isn't those who post up the list. It is those on the list itself. That is the problem. Conservatives used to elect respectable people. Eisenhower was above reproach. I would vote for him today. After him, the only one would be Bush Sr.

You have stated exactly the opposite of what is actually happening. Lincoln was reviled when he was in office. He would have lost the election if the Union hadn't prevailed at Gettysburg. For a sitting president to lose an election in wartime is the ultimate disgrace.

Eisenhower was so liberal he was accused of being a communist. His own party despised him.

Sarah Palin has never been president, and neither has Trump. Including them is just sleazy dishonest propaganda.

The ones you call "respectable" are more accurately characterized as "liberal." That's what you mean by "respectable." A genuine conservative is automatically not "respectable" in your lexicon. All you have proved is that you don't like conservative presidents. Your spin is pathetic and totally transparent.

Trump appeals to ordinary white Americans who are sick to death of being told they live in privilege, and that whites are to blame for all the worlds ills.
The more white liberals and minorities point their fingers, the more the rest of us unite.

Didn't realize that David Duke was an ordinary white American. Anyway, you're a victim, you act like it.

Sorry Pogo, but this is stupid. Damn near every establishment candidate, every "conservative" pundit, every commentator, is screaming like their hair is on fire not to vote for Trump...yet, Trump has won 3 out of 4 primaries, and is on track to win 8 more. That is the antithesis of obey. The word I would use is Revolutionary.

On the contrary, the groupthink is hardly an antithesis to "obey", but I think in the context it was used it means how the subject views and responds to the authority figure's authority --- with obedience. That point -- the point of Rump actually having authority -- has thankfully not happened yet.

This is less a political analysis and more a study of human psyhology. That Rump's obedient minions who loyally and robotically follow a pied piper swimming in touchy-feely sound bites who has yet to offer a specific on anything, are drawn to the authoritarian-dictator archetype is not a revelation. What's more a revelation IMO is that since Rump's appeal is entirely emotional-visceral and devoid of any hint of the intellectual, that emotional attachment completely (no pun intended) trumps ideology for the many minions you mention above. They'd rather feel a candidate than consider him intellectually, and given a choice between the two .... the former trumps the latter, apparently with ease.

After so much ideological poop flung over the years I find that choice curious. Among other things it incites one to wonder why the ideologue-turned-Trumpbot was formerly spouting said ideology in the first place, since it obviously had so little meaning.

I'm not sure I follow the assignment of the adjective "revolutionary". While no one in recent memory has exploited feelings over intellect to this degree in politics, commodity advertisers have been doing it for decades. And since Rump apparently sees what he's doing as selling a touchy-feely commodity (rather than debating any kind of policy), his use of that device seems to follow naturally.

The part that doesn't seem natural is how the unwashed who are his target audience don't see right through it.

Ah, a victim and angry. Yet still incapable of explaining how he has been victimized other than your hurt feelings.
