Supreme Court Allows Semi Automatic Gun Ban

Now if we can get all those weapons banned nation wide we will see the mass murders decrease and eventually stop.
Wow. You really drank the anti-gun piss. Mass murders will not decrease, much less stop, if you ban "assault weapons".

There's a country down under... you might have heard of it... Australia...

They proved it does work.

So, fail you.
It worked in Australia for two reasons. There is no constitutional right to bear arms in Australia and they're about a hundred times as many guns in the US as there're were in Australia.

American tolerance toward violence and easy access to high powered weapons, guarantee more mass murder. The inability of the government to make it illegal for terrorists to buy assault weapons says it all.

I have heard of their mandatory gun confiscation. Guess what? They confiscated more than "assault weapons". And they didn't just ban future sales of guns, they confiscated existing guns.

So try again.

There's another country...you might have heard of it. The United States. It had an Assault Weapons Ban for ten years.

They proved it does not work.

So, fail you.

OK, explain this one:

A Land Without Guns: How Japan Has Virtually Eliminated Shooting Deaths
How Japan Has Virtually Eliminated Shooting Deaths

(And you know, those Japanese are so oppressed and demeaned by it, too. Spent some time there about 10 years ago and all they did was bitch because there guns had been taken away. :eusa_whistle: )

And this one:

What Australia Did To Prevent Mass Shootings, And How The U.S. Could Learn
What Australia Did To Prevent Mass Shootings, And How The U.S. Could Learn
"'If more guns made us safer, the U.S. would be the safest nation in the world.' You are not; you are 10 to 15 times more likely to be shot dead in the USA per capita than Australia."
Tim Fischer, former deputy prime minister of Australia

The gun program in Australia seems to have worked. Firearm homicide rate fell by 59 percent, and the firearm suicide rate fell by 65 percent, in the decade after the law was introduced, without a parallel increase in non-firearm homicides and suicides. That provides strong circumstantial evidence for the law's effectiveness.

Civilian ownership of firearms remains legal in Australia, however all guns must be registered and certain classes of guns require a "genuine reason" for ownership.

As I said, it was far more than an assault weapons ban. Far more.

Which is why comparing the United States to Australia and other Western nations is pointless.

American culture is inherently more violent.

American culture perceives violence as a legitimate means of conflict resolution – from corporal punishment in schools to capital punishment in our legal system, along with stand your ground, castle doctrine, and no duty to retreat.

Moreover, Americans lack access to comprehensive mental health treatment programs – where detection and treatment of mental illness prior to adulthood would significantly decrease mass murders and similar violence.

Just as pointless would be to ‘ban’ AR and AK platform rifles – less than 2 percent of gun crimes are committed by long guns, an even smaller percentage of crimes are committed using an AR 15 or AK 47.
