Parents have ALWAYS had the option to seek out all education alternatives. Homeschooling and private schools have always been out there. You don't like public schools you have three options that have always been available to you: 1. homeschool, 2. private school, 3. work from within as a teacher or a parent volunteer or a school board member to change the public school in your community.

What HAS been proposed is a voluntary program where teachers could ask to carry, and go through a rigorous training program similar to what airline pilots do to have a gun in the cockpit. It is called the Flight Deck Program, and is strictly voluntary.
