A pretty sad case where a teacher was convicted, and numerous fellow teachers at the school and a school official pleaded for leniency.

Father of molested student talks about his outrage toward seven teachers who supported the rapist - EAGnews.org powered by Education Action Group Foundation, Inc.

The main bits:

On July 29, the WB-RC school board held a special meeting at the Ogemaw Heights High School auditorium where a steady stream of concerned parents and local residents made their way to the podium and urged school officials to terminate the seven teachers who supported Erickson.

School leaders are attempting to determine if the terminations would violate the teachers’ constitutional right to free speech, which could trigger lawsuits that would undoubtedly cost far more than the district can afford.

Their son had grown increasingly distant from the once close-knit family through his early teens, as Erickson, his middle school math teacher, manipulated the young boy into a twisted relationship that lasted from Aug. 2006 to Aug. 2009. The victim frequently lashed out at his father and the tension tore their family apart.

Despite the disturbing revelations, the Janczewskis were content to let the legal process take its course. They kept a low profile and followed Erickson’s criminal case closely. Erickson admitted to his misdeeds, and the couple attended his sentencing July 10.

Teachers take sides

That’s when they learned for the first time that numerous teachers in the school district wrote to the court to plead for a lenient sentence for their colleague. They were shocked to see several teachers – and school board member Mike Eagan – sitting across the courtroom with the sex offender’s family.

“Neal made a mistake,” teacher Sally Campbell wrote to the judge, according to the Ogemaw County Herald. “He allowed a mutual friendship to develop into much more. He realized his mistake and ended it years before someone anonymously sent something in to the authorities which began this legal process.”

Does the first amendment protect a teacher's job when it comes to something like this?

The teacher has every right to express his feelings on the matter.

The Board has every right to discipline and fire him.

The Court will be the final say if the teacher is fired and he sues.

As usual the only people who win will be the lawyers.

just to clarify, it was multiple teachers supporting the molester, and they were all female.

How many times do wack far right reactionaries lie and say that so so said it didn't happen?

How many times do wack far right reactionaries lie and say that so so said it didn't happen?
Never.
You fanatical liberal totalitarians have made the most vicious personal attacks and threats when I mentioned these crimes by your fellow fanatical liberal totalitarians of the Obamacult.
You appear to feel that it's all good.
Perk of the job perhaps?

Both the far right and the far left embrace anti-American values and attitudes.

The crime is horrible, folks have the right to add their weight to sentencing consideration, and that you attack it means you attack free speech.

Liberals are moving toward the normalization of adult/child sexual relationships the same way they moved toward the normalization of homosexuality.

When a society starts down the road of depravity and degradation it does not stop until it is totally destroyed.

Reactionaries are telling falsehoods. Perverts of the liberal left and the reactionary right would like to normalize child sex with adults.

"Does the first amendment protect a teacher's job when it comes to something like this?"

This is a excellent situation for the question that you raise.

Although it makes me feel uneasy in this particular connection....the answer is 'yes.'

Although a private business should be able to discharge employees who damage their brand, institutions that are part of the government should, at the very least, respect the Constitution.

Shunning is acceptable, but no more than that.

Liberals are going public with their plans to normalize children having sex with adults.

The speakers urged the removal of pedophilia from the American Psychiatric Association’s list of mental defects in its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.

Reisman explained the same strategy was used by homosexual activists in the 1970s when same-sex attractions were removed from the APA’s list of disorders. Eventually, the legalization of “gay marriage,” the mandatory homosexuality lessons in public schools and the brand new policy of allowing open homosexuality in the U.S. military resulted.

B4U-ACT.org: Seeking acceptance for "minor attracted person" and pedophiles | Washington Times Communities

B4U-ACT is a Maryland-based group of mental health professionals, psychiatrists and pedophiles who want to normalize pedophilia. Instead of pejoratively calling them “pedophiles,” “fiends,” “deviants,” “freaks,” “perverts,” “degenerates,” “predators” or “pedophiles,” they would prefer that society refer to them by the sensitive and socially-accepting term: minor attracted persons.

The point of this symposium is to promote “tolerance” and “normalization.” The group hopes it will lead to eventual acceptance of their peculiar desires and behaviors. It opposes treatment to change feelings of attraction to children, arguing that, “No one chooses to be emotionally and sexually attracted to children or adolescents

But is the parents rejection of the teachers continued employment at the school really a government reaction? This is not congress making laws that ban the teachers from working, this is the customers of the school saying they do not want these people working with thier children.

So because they work for the government teachers get carte blanche to say whatever they want and keep there jobs?

Reactionaries are telling falsehoods. Perverts of the liberal left and the reactionary right would like to normalize child sex with adults.
The liberal left have been desiring such normalization for years.
The right have in fact stood against such normalization.

Knob rashes like you lie to make a point.

Like the fanatical liberal totalitarians.
You know I'm right.

Knob Rash.

You have no idea that you are the "knob rash".

Pedophilia is embraced by far right and far left, and both sides would love to normalize such relationships.

You and I are against that, but you are silly if you think that there are not willies on the far right.

Child rape by a teacher?

You cut my post to get a false suggestion.

The post you cut was your own: "As usual the only people who win will be the lawyers.

just to clarify, it was multiple teachers supporting the molester, and they were all female."

Once again, doesn't matter.
I cut your post?
You posted doesn't matter.
That's what I quoted, you vile liar.

Stop lying!!

YOU WILL COMPLY!!!

And we see a noob melt down.

I hope not, martybegan. The school district of course can discharge the teachers, but the teachers have every right to protect their jobs and extract retribution and penalties from the school district if it fails in court.

"So because they work for the government teachers get carte blanche to say whatever they want and keep there jobs?"

That's the essence of the First Amendment.

The essence is to protect you from governmental action. Parents are not agents of the government, they are customers of a government service. The providers of that service have seen fit to ask in a court of law for lenency for a convicted sex offender who abused a student in his care.

Teacher's contracts are allowed to have morals clauses, and these have passed 1st amendment scrutiny. I would propose that supporting a child molester can be considered a breach of said clause. This is not a case of a poltical view or even a lifestlye choice outside of school, this is characterized support of a criminal.
