Texas Governor Leads The Charge

I am in total support.

Prohibit Congress from regulating activity that occurs wholly within one State.

Require Congress to balance its budget.

Prohibit administrative agencies--and the unelected bureaucrats that staff them--from creating federal law.

Prohibit administrative agencies--and the unelected bureaucrats that staff them--from preempting state law.

Allow a two-thirds majority of the States to override a U.S. Supreme Court decision.

Require a seven-justice super-majority vote for U.S. Supreme Court decisions that invalidate a democratically enacted law.

Restore the balance of power between the federal and state governments by limiting the former to the powers expressly delegated to it in the Constitution.

Give state officials the power to sue in federal court when federal officials overstep their bounds.

Allow a two-thirds majority of the States to override a federal law or regulation.

The Federal government is ONLY authorized to exercise those powers SPECIFICALLY ENUMERATED

1- NO constitutional proviso authorizes fedgov to intervene in the states 's internal affairs
2- Forget the "balance" budget that's a scam - fedgov should ONLY spend money in those activites SPECIFICALLY ENUMERATED
3- the Constitution did not authorize fedgov to create "administrative agencies"
4- SCOTUS is only allowed to declare the law - specifically it has no authority to legislate or amend the Constitution
5- Agree with your other points

We are not going back to the bad old days, confederates and pervs. Not going to happen. You have to obey a law that applies to all of us. Just the way it is and will continue to be.

Hooray for Gov. Abbot. We have enough Republican governors to exact some much needed changes.

AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — Texas Governor Greg Abbott is joining the ranks of Republicans who are pushing for the first U.S. constitutional convention in more than 200 years.

Abbott on Friday called on Texas to take the lead in pushing for constitutional amendments that would give states power to ignore federal laws and override decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court.

The idea isn’t new, and successfully assembling a constitutional convention is a long shot.

Doing so would require approval from 34 states, and over the past four decades, more than two dozen states have endorsed the idea at one time or another.

Texas Governor Calls For Convention Of States

He thinks he'll get an amendment to allow states to ignore the Supreme Court?

Seriously?

Abbott is playing the large far right minority element in his state, that's all.

What's wrong to go back to the old days when you had to work for a living?

You know , once we go fully socialist, elections will end , and you will then have to support your self

Amendment to the Constitution............exactly how does that apply to SCOTUS...........:cuckoo:

The only reason governors are having to take action in order to try to reign in the on-going Un-Constitutional actions is because the gutless, treasonous Washington Establishment GOP has failed to do the jib with which they were entrusted.

Why not just form a new constitution all together? There so much stuff that is simply out dated in it such as the clause there should be no royalty in this country. Is that really an issue? We are always telling it is an outdated racist document so why not just write a new one with a brand new federal government.

We got King Barry.

According to some, King Barry is the constitution. They just can't wait until the day we just crown someone dictator of this country.

That would be Bubba. Barry can't hack it.

Why not have a constitutional convention? The taxpayers can foot the bill.

Well, this is a radical Right thingy, and the radical Right can not agree on whether to order out for Chinese or Tacos, much less a convention, so it is not going to happen. Anyway, they are busy trying to fire the new Speaker that they just installed after throwing Bohner under the bus. They didn't want him anyway, but the Right has made a once coveted job to be avoided at all costs, and nobody else would take it.

Anyway, the fun is all but over, because even the Koch Brothers have expressed their disgust with the Republican party. That puts Trump and Cruz and associates into a death spiral, since the Koch's are not going to spend a cent on the primaries. Trump doesn't care, but everybody else in D.C. does, and Trump can't do a thing for anybody in his party. He is now completely persona non grata. If he were elected, he would have to fill the inaugural ball with paid attendees.

I'll go for $15.00 an hour.

Texas Governor Calls For Convention Of States
Nonsense.

There won't be any 'convention.'

Just because the Constitution prohibits a minority of republican bigots from seeking to disadvantage gay Americans or Muslims Americans isn't 'justification' for a 'convention.'

God you're stupid, did you even bother to read the link?

If enough states call for a convention, there will be a convention.

My avatar makes fun of the far right 'free shit' brigade, for sure. I am sure I pay several times more in taxes than you make in a year, maybe several years.

49 States already have dumb ass.
