The party caucuse can toss out the primary results and choose another candidate. Legally anyway. Doing so is obviously problematic from a voter's point of view.
But legally, the party is not bound by primary elections at the presidential level.

Indeed. Maybe a better analogy is 'a pregnant pole vaulter' because there will be lots of kicking and screaming. It is unusual for this to happen and is a lot easier in the case of the death of the candidate, obviously except for the candidate that is.
The best case scenario is to keep Joe Biden, IMHO the second best is to put Harris in and choose another VP candidate. However, all of this is problematic and probably will impact down ballot races as well.
