. Such stuff was on the way anyways, and when the staff is reduced due to modernization, then it should be all the more reason to make the jobs better, and more quality. Will that happen ? It should because that's what has happened in farming etc. Wages should rise in the wake of modernization, and if they don't, then it will be seen for what it is or what it was, and the American workforce won't be happy if some of the savings aren't used to increase quality of workforce conditions, and to keep employees off of the governments / tax payers backs.

Burger joints can be automated to the point where only a couple of people are needed to run them. In fact, I've seen that many people running one at the airport.

A fast food worker costs less today than he or she did in 1968.
I bet so to the employer, but then we as tax payers were taking up the slack with tax payer assistance and/or subsidising the workers pay when they couldn't make it themselves on the pay that they were getting at the job. The feds interjecting itself in these issues by way of granting assistance programs, is exactly where it all has gone wrong in this nation. The feds acting as a labor union for workers in this nation has been a huge mistake.

Yeah? So that is proof that the American people want the working poor to have a better life that greedy corporations won't provide for them, even though it's the corporation that gets the benefit of their labor.

. Corporations need employee's and employee's need their jobs whether at small or large businesses or corporations. What the corps or businesses learned, is that if they back off, then the government would take up the slack or kick in for them... This is where it all went wrong.
