The Chinese Coolies were slaves. Do they deserve reparations?

Pretty darned close doesnt make them slaves plus they came over here willingly. Now if you can show me at least 5 examples where they were stolen from China, beaten, forced to give up their language, religion, names, etc you may have a case. Oh yeah I forgot. You also need to show where they were sold off and split up from their families and all this was done over multiple generations.

One more thing. You need to show where they went through all this without being paid.

I'm sorry, I forgot that black people were the only ethnicity that encountered injustice... We should ignore the Jews, Chinese, Native Americans, Irish Immigrants, because they had their own awful treatment that isn't as special as yours.

Sorry, man, I'm trying my best to be an "ally" here, but the reality is, everyone has a sad story.

Hey, True story... when my Grandfather got off the boat from Germany, one step ahead of Hitler, no one welcomed him with open arms. He had to change his name from "Ludwig" to "Louis" and changed the way he pronounced the family name (which we still do to this very day) to sound more "American".

Slavery was bad. It was also a long time ago. We have a lot of things that need to be reformed, and, yes, we really need to acknowledge our bad past...

" I forgot that black people were the only ethnicity that encountered injustice... "

Dont try and change the subject. I said they were not slaves. There is a big difference between being a slave and dealing with injustice.

Guess what? My Grandfather could have changed his name to Peter Smith and they would have still tried to lynch him because he was Black. Yes everyone has strife and bad things happen but very few have it as bad as Black people in the US or in Africa as a result of encountering white people. The only people I can say that had it worse were the natives of Tazmania.
Is this some fucking competition? Could you miss the point any more completely?
No dipshit. The point is that both groups immigrated willingly which is kind of the opposite of being enslaved. Cant your retarded ass read? The OP is asking why Blacks ask for reparations and the others dont. That because those groups are either now white or they got reparations already.

Neither the Irish or the Chinese were slaves. What kind of dog shit have you been smoking? Both groups immigrated here willingly.
Yes, the Irish were slaves, not just indentured servants.

The Irish slave trade began when 30,000 Irish prisoners were sold as slaves to the New World. The King James I Proclamation of 1625 required Irish political prisoners be sent overseas and sold to English settlers in the West Indies. By the mid 1600s, the Irish were the main slaves sold to Antigua and Montserrat. At that time, 70% of the total population of Montserrat were Irish slaves.
Ireland quickly became the biggest source of human livestock for English merchants. The majority of the early slaves to the New World were actually white.
From 1641 to 1652, over 500,000 Irish were killed by the English and another 300,000 were sold as slaves. Ireland’s population fell from about 1,500,000 to 600,000 in one single decade. Families were ripped apart as the British did not allow Irish dads to take their wives and children with them across the Atlantic. This led to a helpless population of homeless women and children. Britain’s solution was to auction them off as well.
During the 1650s, over 100,000 Irish children between the ages of 10 and 14 were taken from their parents and sold as slaves in the West Indies, Virginia and New England. In this decade, 52,000 Irish(mostly women and children) were sold to Barbados and Virginia. Another 30,000 Irish men and women were also transported and sold to the highest bidder. In 1656, Cromwell ordered that 2000 Irish children be taken to Jamaica and sold as slaves to English settlers.
Many people today will avoid calling the Irish slaves what they truly were: Slaves. They’ll come up with terms like “Indentured Servants” to describe what occurred to the Irish. However, in most cases from the 17th and 18th centuries, Irish slaves were nothing more than human cattle.
As an example, the African slave trade was just beginning during this same period. It is well recorded that African slaves, not tainted with the stain of the hated Catholic theology and more expensive to purchase, were often treated far better than their Irish counterparts.
African slaves were very expensive during the late 1600s (50 Sterling). Irish slaves came cheap (no more than 5 Sterling). If a planter whipped or branded or beat an Irish slave to death, it was never a crime. A death was a monetary setback, but far cheaper than killing a more expensive African. The English masters quickly began breeding the Irish women for both their own personal pleasure and for greater profit. Children of slaves were themselves slaves, which increased the size of the master’s free workforce. Even if an Irish woman somehow obtained her freedom, her kids would remain slaves of her master. Thus, Irish moms, even with this new found emancipation, would seldom abandon their kids and would remain in servitude.
In time, the English thought of a better way to use these women (in many cases, girls as young as 12) to increase their market share: The settlers began to breed Irish women and girls with African men to produce slaves with a distinct complexion. These new “mulatto” slaves brought a higher price than Irishlivestock and, likewise, enabled the settlers to save money rather than purchase new African slaves. This practice of interbreeding Irish females with African men went on for several decades and was so widespread that, in 1681, legislation was passed “forbidding the practice of mating Irish slave women to African slave men for the purpose of producing slaves for sale.” In short, it was stopped only because it interfered with the profits of a large slave transport company.
England continued to ship tens of thousands of Irish slaves for more than a century. Records state that, after the 1798 Irish Rebellion, thousands of Irish slaves were sold to both America and Australia. There were horrible abuses of both African and Irish captives. One British ship even dumped 1,302 slaves into the Atlantic Ocean so that the crew would have plenty of food to eat.
There is little question that the Irish experienced the horrors of slavery as much (if not more in the 17th Century) as the Africans did. There is, also, very little question that those brown, tanned faces you witness in your travels to the West Indies are very likely a combination of African and Irish ancestry. In 1839, Britain finally decided on its own to end its participation in Satan’s highway to hell and stopped transporting slaves. While their decision did not stop pirates from doing what they desired, the new law slowly concluded THIS chapter of nightmarish Irish misery.
But, if anyone, black or white, believes that slavery was only an African experience, then they’ve got it completely wrong.
Irish slavery is a subject worth remembering, not erasing from our memories.

Chinese slaves set a good example and went back to China. Too bad the Blacks didn’t go back to Africa.

White "indentured servants" in the early colonies were less than slaves. 80% of them died in the first two years in Virginia. Virtually none of them ever saw freedom. They were literally owned. But of course to ignorant blacks they are the only oppressed people.

Pretty darned close doesnt make them slaves plus they came over here willingly. Now if you can show me at least 5 examples where they were stolen from China, beaten, forced to give up their language, religion, names, etc you may have a case. Oh yeah I forgot. Joe, you need to understand that no matter how "woke" you are, sooner or later you will say SOMETHING that SOMEONE is going to perceive as racist, insensitive, etc. And you will be persecuted for it. You may as well lay it out there as honestly as you can, from your perspective, but understand that some of your fellow travelers will not accept your perspective or who you are, not matter how down you are with the struggle. Leftists will always eventually eat their own, along with everyone else. Just ask Trotsky.

British slave owners got reperatons for the loss of thier property

All ancestors of American slave owners should absolutely get reparations

The slaves were already paid with thier freedom
Jogger Ancestors were offered free transportation back to Liberia ...most. chose to stay in the united States of thier own free will

We owe slave owners big time

It you want to read some shit read a deep history of Ireland and the shit the British did for centuries. Most of it is horrific. Ditto Jewish people for many, many, centuries.

But Joe, only black americans are victims. If you stray from the orthodoxy you will be eaten alive. Just saying.....

For Whom the Bell Tolls
by
John Donne
No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

Moving the goal post again I see. Read the OP dummy.

Be quiet dripping poo. You know good and well the comparison in the OP was done for racist reasons. Its to float the theory that somehow life as an indentured servant or voluntary immigrant was comparable to being an enslaved Black and Blacks shouldnt complain. Youre just as bad as the other slimy racists and thats why you like having sex with feces. :)

I know that everything you ever post is done for racist reasons, you spineless, shameless racist hypocrite POS. You don't care about racism, or the plight of oppressed peoples. You are exactly the same as every illogical, cowardly, morally bankrupt 'white' racist here. You are exactly the same. Don't pretend otherwise.
You are harmonica.

Joe, we aren't talking about a simple injustice here. Yes Chinese got fucked and it's wrong but it is not what blacks endured nor is it what Native Americans endured. Whites came here on their own and many struggled, but those same white immigrants burned down black communities, bombed homes of blacks who dared moved into mostly white neighborhoods, enforced restrictive covenants and benefited from government policies that blacks could not.

So can we please recognize this? It's easy to say. It's like, "My ancestors struggled but they did not face what yours did."

Slavery was a long time ago and so was the signing of the declaration of independence. Both these things impact us today. According to research done by Carol Anderson, at the time slaves were freed, slavery accounted for 80 percent of Americas GDP. It is the money that industrialized this country and created the jobs immigrants got who moved into this country. But racism and human right violations against blacks have continued long past slavery. That's why people are in the streets today. The issue of race in America is about much more than slavery.

I don't see Chinese Americans saying a peep about how horribly their ancestors were treated during the Coolie slave days. The same can be said for the Irish and other nationalities. Why is it just Black people feel entitled to cash in on the past?

Of course, I am not going to touch your last question.

But you are correct. If reparations are to be paid out, then America's model minority, Chinese Americans, also deserve reparations for the mistreatment they have suffered since they were brought here to labor, especially to help build the trans-continental railroad.

I was a secondary school student in 1956 when California voters decided to formally repeal the law that prohibited Asians from owning land.

Asians, in general, have not complained about past mistreatment. Their children look forward to the future, not the past. They study hard, get a good education, get good jobs, and behave themselves better than any other ethnicity in this country (including the current majority ethnicity).
Actually they have.

Wing Luke

"Luke saw many of his contemporaries forced to live in racialized pockets like Beacon Hill (largely Asian Americans) and the Central District (largely African Americans) and felt strongly that the ability to decide where one will live should be a basic right of all citizens. Knowing firsthand the effects of racial discrimination, Luke was instrumental in Seattle's passing of an Open Housing Ordinance in 1963 with punitive provisions against racial discrimination in the selling or renting of real estate. He fought for civil rights, urban renewal and historic preservation. "

Historian and Civil Rights activist Yuji Ichioka is credited with coining the term “Asian American” in the 1960s. Ichioka began his work as an activist as a student at Berkeley and went on to ...

NO REPARATIONS for anyone.

period.
Then stop paying native Americans the reparations you give them every year. Past and current white wealth is built on our backs and blacks today are living in poverty because of it. You owe us.

I don't see Chinese Americans saying a peep about how horribly their ancestors were treated during the Coolie slave days. The same can be said for the Irish and other nationalities. Why is it just Black people feel entitled to cash in on the past?

NO REPARATIONS for anyone.

I'm not paying anyone anything.

I'm opposed to reparations.
