I have no problem with our schools presenting the concept of Intelligent Design and discussing all the evidence for and against it. Let it meet the same scientific standards that evolution does. Then your children can make the decision which theory makes the most sense

Do you religious fanatics really want creationism to go head to head with evolution on a scientific basis? I don't think you will be too happy with the conclusions your children reach

let's do that with most everything!

(i have no doubt most conservatives/christians would oppose this idea)

in schools we can discuss the pro and cons of evolution, ID, creationism

AND

instead of NO SEX UNTIL MARRIED
we should discuss the pros and cons of having sex outside of marriage

and

instead of GAYS ARE AN ABOMINATION

we can discuss the pros and cons of alternative lifestyles

and

instead of POT IS BAD

we can discuss the truth about pot, alcohol, tobacco...
using facts and reality as opposed to lies and fears

O.K. as science is predicated on the absence of "God" or any creator or higher entity, it is almost incumbent that you can say any belief in such an entity would be "unscientific" so this is a bit of foregone conclusion. If we are to follow scientific method, it would equally be incumbent to repeatedly re-enforce that unproven theory isn't fact and that there is no definitive answer that doesn't rely on speculation whenever teaching any aspect of theoretical source of the universe or life or the Earth. If we are going to allow speculations, then the “It’s not science” angle is moot, isn’t it as that is surely not acceptable “science” in teaching is it? Treating speculative conclusions as fact is a greater violation than speculation of a designer or higher intelligence.

By this typical self-righteous contention, the only way to teach the subject is to show proven facts and make no pre-conceived conclusions for the students in regard to overall theory of these subjects. The theories being taught require more faith, in my opinion, than religion and change significantly more often, so I will not concede that one isn’t “faith based” while the other is. In short, while the state may make no law on the establishment of religion, it also may not make any law that prohibits the free pursuit of religion. In as much as that is the case, a disclaimer is totally appropriate, if for no other reason than to ensure that the state is not interpreted as having taken a definitive stance on a faith based issue against the pursuit of religion. Intentional denial of the possibility of religion being valid is surely such a stand, is it not?

Any theory that is tested by applied science, is a scientific theory until either proven or disproven. Intelligent design has indeed been tested by science using reasonable methods of observation and data collection and has been equally proven to evolution, has it not? Neither is either proven or disproven conclusively. The only division among them, being the preconceived premise that there is no "God" or designer in one set of hypothesis and an allowance of that possibility in the other. As that premise is contradictory to the theory, that makes such a concession necessary, but not empirically unreasonable.

There is a reason that science assumes hypothesis to be untrue until proven, well at least in most cases…
