We live in a time where a minority of the American population rejects science because it conflicts with their religion, and they want to push science and truth out of the classroom and install a minister to teach religion in school. They of course would never consider having scientists teach evolution or chemistry in their church. But the other way around? They work diligently to force the Kristian religion into school curriculum and have it taught as fact. Just as the various religions have done in nations throughout history with grievous consequences for humanity. This is the very reason the founding fathers of America codified separation of church and state into the US Constitution and other founding documents. They saw the despotism of the church in Europe and what it wrought.

Conservatives in all human populations are antithetical to education and knowledge, and to the progress those things bring. Whenever a despotic conservative regime takes over a country they immediately set about killing teachers and professors, as well as librarians. The free thinkers are the first that need to be silenced because from this pool of humanity comes rebellion, revolution, and opposition. The ignorant are easily managed and herded. Easily fooled by capable but evil orators (talk radio), lies presented as truths (Fox News), and the blood easily brought to boil against imaginary enemies and crisis.

The educated see through these manipulations. Despots naturally then must silence this opposition as it is far easier to keep the ignorant mob in the dark if there are no voices to tell them how to turn on a light.

Taken to its extreme it is like being born blind but no one ever telling you that you can't see. This is how you control and manipulate entire populations. As in North Korea where reality is painstakingly hidden and an alternate reality substituted in its place. This is the task at hand for the current conservative movement in America. To undermine and destroy all of its trusted institutions that reveal truth, like the normal news outlets such as CNN, CBS, NBC, newspapers, colleges, and replace them with an alternate fake reality. Where science is just an opinion, where intelligent people are no smarter than anyone else, where opinion is on the same level as fact.

Where all of existence is reduced to us vs them.
