The easiest way to teach swimming...

I can recall coming to looking straight up into the sun , after a lifeguard hauled my sorry a** outta the soup as a lad

I put some serious time in the local creek after that 'lesson'.....

I grew up on a lake and swam every sunny day during the summer. My first attempt at 'swimming' was 'dogpaddling' in the shallows. I remember sucking it up and dogpaddling out to the diving board to join my older brother who was already a good swimmer. I then went to the much more efficient sidestroke and finally to the crawl. However, the sidestroke remained my favorite as I didn't have to put my face in the water. Never liked the 'racing style' backstroke either, but did like what is an inverted breast stoke.
