It was 2003, Fishy, there was only Civil Unions in California. I wasn't fired, Fish, I simply wasn't hired after they found out I was gay. It turned out for the best. I got a much better position with an organization that recognized my civil union and granted my partner benefits as a result. Now that we're legally married, it's all moot.

What struck me about the CNET article was a comment from the man who started it all - a man who said that, if only Eich had announced that the re-education had been successful and then kept his mouth shut, then everything would have been okay (emphasis mine):
