This is absolute nonsense, getting yourself into a war does not "cleanse the balance sheet". Wars are expensive as hell, both in terms of treasure but also in blood and lives and not just on our side either. And "cull the herd"? Does anyone really think the US Gov't goes to war so we can reduce the number of living Americans? What utter bullshit!

And I would not say our gov't is tyrannical or more repressive by the day either. We can still vote, we can still speak out and protest as long as we do it peacefully. It ain't like we can't vote the bastards out if we don't like what they're doing, look what happened to the Dems in 2010 when they lost the House, then in 2014 when they lost the Senate, and then in 2016 when they lost the WH. And when the GOP lost the House in 2006 and the WH and the Senate in 2008. That ain't tyranny or repressive IMHO.

Because in the small print, The Government says you have to pay it back. Like during Hurricane Sandy lol.

Wars do happen in a certain pattern or regularity. Usually in line with economic and civil unrest. Possibly other factors as well. Even though the US has been in several wars over many years.......most haven't had any lasting impact on the population as a whole. Namely because we haven't lost or sacrificed anything of significant value. IMO. I'm not trying to belittle those who have given their lives in the process or the families left behind. BUT the Civil War was on our soil brother against brother, WW1 & WW2 were world wide and even though not on our soil at the time, the people were directly effected with rationing. I'm not sure about the Korean War (at the time), but anything since Viet Nam has always been more 'someone else's problem'.
Personally I think we are long overdue for a direct war......and it typically happens in such a way as described in the OP.....whether that's the basis or not, I don't know, but it is the end result
