1. The minister chosen by President Obama upon the occasion of his inauguration was the Liberal Reverend Joseph Lowery. He intoned:
"We ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around...""When yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen."

The Associated Press noticed liberal Rev. Joseph Lowery's prayer raised eyebrows when he prayed for that day in the hazy future when "white will embrace what is right." AP Describes Black Minister's Mockery of Whites as Not Right As 'Note of Racial Caution' | NewsBusters

a. Who OK'd that racist view? Well....who selected the speaker?

2. Speaking of religious racists, there was Obama's Easter Sunday speaker, the the Rev. Luis León, pastor of the Episcopal church the Obama family attended for the holiday. He 'honored' the President with a sermon in which he said it drives him "crazy when the captains of the religious right are always calling us back ... for blacks to be back in the back of the bus ... for women to be back in the kitchen ... for immigrants to be back on their side of the border."
Obama Easter Service Pastor, Luis León, Criticized For Remarks Against Religious Right

a. Exactly who are the leaders of the religious right espousing that?
Any?
Or is this another divisive lie from the Left?

b. Did I miss the disavowal of that slander from the President?
No?
Well...why didn't he disavow it?

3. Why the need to divide America?

" To see the secular socialist building his machine, one need only note the appeal to the self-interest of each of their various interest groups rather than appealing to any unifying vision for the future of the nation. The reason for ‘identity politics’ is that the intellectual mindset of the Leftists is hardly the same as that of the vast majority of Americans." Gingrich, "To Save America," chapter two.

Good post, which exemplifies the mentality of a growing number of Americans.

explain why the vast majority of American votes of color dont like your party?

Why do they SHUN you and your candidates?

Can I wait until you explain the premise of the OP....why this mistake-of-a-President works to divide our people at every opportunity?

Both sides "work to divide."

See: The Senate, and Obama.

The corniest complaint in all of politics is when a divisive side compares their divisiveness to the other side and cries that the other side is more divisive.

It's such blowhard bullshit, it doesnt even deserve consideration.

when brown can stick around - brown has committment issues

When yellow will be mellow - Yellow is just mean

when the red man can get ahead - red is just lazy

and when white will embrace what is right - white embraces wrong.

Or he was just trying to make his sermon rhyme.......

Thank god we live in a land where anyone can be a critic without fear of jail.

Here's what puts the stake through you heart:

"When you're president of the United States, you are president of all the people -- not just the people who voted for you," said White House spokesman Jay Carney."
WH to Romney: Obama is president of 'all the people'

He was lying, wasn't he, when he said:

* “There is not a liberal America and a conservative America. There is a United States of America. There is not a black America and a white America, a Latino America, an Asian America, There is a United States of America.” -- Obama addressing the Democratic national convention in 2004 (here and here)

* “I don’t want to pit Red America against Blue America. I want to be the president
of the United States of America.” -- Obama at the 2007 Jefferson-Jackson dinner in Iowa

* “We have a choice in this country. We can accept a politics that breeds division and conflict and cynicism…. That is one option. Or, at this moment, in this election, we can come together and say, ‘Not this time….’” -- Obama speech in Philadelphia, addressing the controversy over Jeremiah Wright (March 18, 2008)

* Candidate Obama told Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone in 2008 that he would put an end to the type of politics that “breeds division and conflict and cynicism,” and that he would help Americans “rediscover our bonds to each other and to get out of this constant petty bickering that’s come to characterize our politics.”

* “If you don’t have any fresh ideas, then you use stale tactics to scare voters. If you don’t have a record to run on, then you paint
your opponent as someone people should run from.” -- Obama, implicitly rejecting political scare tactics, during his presidential acceptance speech (August 28, 2008)

* “You [voters] said the time has come to move beyond the bitterness and ager and pettiness that's consumed Washington; to end the political strategy that's been all about division. And instead make it about addition; to build a coalition for change that stretches through red states and blue states.” -- Obama, after winning the Iowa Caucus (January 1, 2008)

* “The time has come for a president … who will listen to you and learn from you even when we disagree.... I will be that president for America.” -- Obama, after winning the Iowa Caucus (January 1, 2008)

* “I'll be a president who finally makes health care affordable and available to every single American, the same way I expanded health care in Illinois. By bringing Democrats and Republicans together to get the job done.” -- Obama, after winning the Iowa Caucus (January 1, 2008)

* “This [victory in Iowa] was the moment when we finally beat back the politics of fear and doubt and cynicism, the politics where we tear each other down instead of lifting this country up.” -- Obama, after winning the Iowa Caucus (January 1, 2008)

* “We are not a collection of red states and blue state. We are the United States of America.” -- Obama, after winning the Iowa Caucus (January 1, 2008)

* “I will listen to you,
especially when we disagree… Let us resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics
for too long.” -- Obama in Grant Park, Chicago, on the night of his election (Nov. 4, 2008)

END RESULT: Obama has consistently sought to divide Americans along lines of class, race, ethnicity, and sex. For details and documentation of this, click here.

And you bought it like it was on sale.

That doesn't put a stake anywhere, but steak is for dinner.

Both sides work to divide.

Both sides' Presidents, also.

Like Reagan is short on quotes about the "left."

Get a clue. Pretending one side has the moral high-ground on divisiveness is about as childish as you can get.

1. Who said this racist was black?
Perhaps you should re-read the OP.

2. Why would you believe it not possible for this racist pastor to be a bigot?

3. This suck-up preacher was licking the boots of Obama....casting untrue aspersions about conservative religious folks. And he got the pat on the head he was looking for.

4. Proof? Sure:
Had he preached as follows:
" it drives me crazy when the Left uses unelected judges to impose gay marriage... for blacks to be unfairly rewarded by affirmative action in college admissions ... for women to allowed unrestricted abortions... for immigrants to be allowed to cross borders unmolested."

What would Obama's reaction have been.
Walked out? You bet.
Why didn't he walk out this time?

5. You don't think Obama should have walked out?

No....then let's see you defend this:
"captains of the religious right are always calling us back ... for blacks to be back in the back of the bus ... for women to be back in the kitchen ... for immigrants to be back on their side of the border..."

These are unmitigated lies.

Why do they SHUN you and your candidates?

Because of people like you TM...who have nothing else to grab onto but the "racism" that exists in the opposing party.

One time, TM...just one time, I would like to see you debate ANY topic withouit insereting racism into it.

there was no claim of him being black.
Honestly, his color plays absolutely no role in this discussion.

I see him as an example of a man who spoke on a topic using generalities with no actual fact to work with.

Are there racists in the religious right?

Of course.

There are racists in every walk of life...every ideology......every corner of the earth.

BNut to say the "Captains" of the religious right have those sentiments?

That is the same as painting the entire religious right as racists, sexists and homophobes.

Afterall, the Captains define the subordinates.

And in my eyes? One who can do that without anything to back it up? Is a racist, sexist, homophobe looking to feel rightous...
