Now Obama's surprise trip to Kabul had some exciting effects. The CIA station chief in a place like that is a highly guarded secret for obvious reasons. He would be a prime target for assassination or kidnapping. But the Obama-ites ignored all that and put his name and title (Station Chief) on a published list of guests at a meeting with Obama. They distributed the list to journalists all over. Someone caught the mistake so they attempted to fix it by sending a revised list and omitting the name. Seriously? Who is getting fired for this? No one. No one ever gets fired in the Obama Adminstration, which is why we have incidents like this.

You're forgetting Libya and forgetting about Nigeria, which is being kept under wraps. Then again there's Syria, Egypt, the Sudan, the Ukraine, and Iran, the list goes on and on. The truth about all of these won't come out unless the media decides to blame it all on Bush.

The CIA officer was one of 15 senior U.S. officials identified as taking part in a military briefing for Obama at Bagram air base, a sprawling military compound north of Kabul. Initially, the press office raised no objection, apparently because military officials had provided the list to distribute to news organizations. But senior White House officials realized the mistake and scrambled to issue an updated list without the CIA officer’s name. In other words, operating within the confines of the US government, a factual account, including the station chief’s name was provided to Obama’s PR flaks. They did not do their due diligence, and simply passed along the secret data.

Several posters have commented on the matter involving Valerie Plame so - for what it's worth - I will offer my opinion as well. There are many people, including many legal experts, who don't believe any crime was committed by disclosing Valerie Plame's name and her former work as a covert agent. It is important to note that no one was convicted of any crime involving the release of information about Valerie Plame; in fact, no one was even charged with such a crime.

Does anyone know WHY no one was ever charged? Although I cannot be absolutely certain, I suggest it's because there was no violation of any law. The law does not prohibit disclosing the names of ALL covert agents, only those who meet certain criteria. Here's a link that explains it in layman's terms:

It appears that Valerie Plame may not have been a covert agent – as that term is defined by law – when her information was released. In my humble opinion, that is the only thing which would explain why no charges were ever filed against anyone for the disclosure. If there is another reason, I can't even imagine what it was.
