The Sad Misguided Life of George Carlin. He was NOT a genius, and NOT a hero.

There's an audience for Carlin, just like there's an audience for porn, prostitutes, gambling, and drugs. Doesn't mean it's good.

Truly talented comedians are funny without being nasty. Frankly, filth isn't funny.

There are comedians who used profanity as the means of a laugh. Carlin was not one of them. If all you heard was bad words, you weren't listening.

Some of the funniest comedians in the world call him the greatest comedian ever.

Carlin's whole presentation was seedy profane stuff. Good comedians don't need it. Most of those in the video that I've heard of aren't funny; they're full of hate: Stewart, Colbert, Midler. All the leftwing 'comedians' are nasty and full of hate. Robin Williams and Letterman are two more. Always a sharp edge to their 'humor'. Leno isn't like that. Neither was Bob Hope. And I've seen it with everyday people. Anybody with an edge to their joking is an unhappy person.

Carlin's gift was making us think and laugh.

Unhappy? People with an edge are often speaking out against wrongs. Carlin, as an example hated corruption and attacked it every chance he got. And still made people laugh for 40+ years.

You think Carlin and Robin Williams are bad? lol

Yes, Bob Hope did it without profanity. At least in most of his career. But not because he wanted it that way. But because he couldn't get away with it in his day. Bob Hope could be as profane as any modern comedian.

Carlin appealed to troubled people who didn't think much to begin with. They're the ones saying "Oh, this man was so wise. He's my guru". Keep in mind, this is a guy who was so messed up with booze and alcohol until the end.

Carlin did a lot of cocaine in the 1970s, by his own admission. And he was a pot smoker throughout the 60s and 70s.

But he was not messed up on alcohol until the end, as you claim. That is just a lie.

And his fans were far more likely to be thinkers than not. His humor required it.

Carlin entered rehab at age 67. That was pretty damn near the end for him.
People who thinks the words of a drunken man are wise are not big thinkers.

You have blamed Carlin for people walking away from religion, especially Christianity. Those are the only people who would fit your description of "Carlin appealed to troubled people who didn't think much to begin with".

Those certainly would be among the troubled and weak he appealed to.

What do you gain by trashing Carlin?

And how did they get that way? Organized religion and the attempted control of every facet of their life.
They obviously weren't strong in their faith to begin with, which was most likely their problem. Strong people aren't swayed by this idiot.
