I keep hearing about how going to a contested conventions will be denying the will of the people.

But the fact is if no candidate reaches 1237, then the will of the people is a contested convention. And if trump is under that its because far more than 51% oppose him because the system is rigged in favor of the front runner.

So if no one reaches 1237, are you going whine that the will of the people is occurring by having a contested convention? Or are you going to whine about how we should ignore the will of the people to have a contested convention?

As many people have pointed out over the past few millennia, "democracy" is a horrible way to run a government (or anything else, for that matter). The People are, collectively, idiots.

I have no doubt that a majority of Americans, by SECRET BALLOT, would be willing to deport everyone in the U.S. with a Mexican surname, every "African American," every Jew, and everyone espousing the "homosexual lifestyle." "We" would implement the death penalty for a mountain of felonies, and elect one charlatan after another to political office.

"The will of the people" is greatly over-rated.

Donald Trump is a "reality" television star who has created a persona that is very compelling to uneducated, unsophisticated, ignorant people. He also has many supporters who are intelligent, educated, and accomplished, but make no mistake, his core constituency is working-class White American men.

His popularity is as though the General Public were able to vote for Heavyweight Boxing Champion of the world, and "Rocky Balboa" was on the ballot. He surely would garner at least a third of the votes, even though, technically, he doesn't exist.

It was not for nothing that the Founders decided that the President should be elected by the Electoral College and not by popular vote. And so it should be with choosing a nominee. Let's allow those with some skin in the game, some knowledge of the issues, and some knowledge of what's best for the Party and for the country, to decide who the Republican candidate will be.

...the will of the people is a contested convention....51% oppose him

51% is a meaningless percentage in the context of primaries with multiple candidates. The fact is The Donald has millions more votes than Lyin' Ted. Get over it and quit rationalizing the rigged system.

51% is not a meaningless percentage. It's a majority. Less than that will never be a majority.
