And let's examine the "good guy" scenario. Many concealed carried people may have good intentions, but many of them probably know next to nothing about gun safety. How do you think that would turn out?

I dispute that statement. One, unless you can present evidence to the contrary, CC permit holders are among the safest when it comes to gun safety. Two, unless you can present evidence to the contrary, in order to obtain the permit, you have to demonstrate that you know a whole lot more than "nothing" about gun safety.
