National Journal's Ron Fournier, a veteran DC journo who calls 'em like he sees 'em, hasn't been terribly impressed with President Obama's careening and incomprehensible handling of the crisis in Syria. In an unsparing review, Fournier concludes that Obama has demonstrated himself to be naive and isolated. Behold what 'smart power' hath wrought:

Naive about the levers of power: Where to start? Obama reversed course on congressional authorization at the last minute, after a private chat with his chief of staff, and to the surprise of his national security team--all in violation of presidential best practices. He then left the country on a quixotic trip to Russia, allowing misgivings to grow in Congress and the public before he could build a case for striking Syria. Boxed in, Obama seized upon a Russian proposal to put Syria's weapons in the hands of the international community. It's an impractical solution, a fig leaf. Either Obama trusts Russian President Vladimir Putin (a mistake) or he is a partner in deceit (an outrage).

The die hard Progressive Left lemmings of Obama will claim this is not so, When the world see's the truth.

Obama is a post turtle. His foreign policy, ineffectual at the best of times, is now flailing around like a chicken with it's head cut off. Obama doesn't know what to do or say.

He seems to have done a great job of backing Pukin into a corner to the point that Pukin has offered up Syria's chemical weapons. Funny how that has come about. I suppose you believe Pukin is doing this out of the goodness of his heart? Wake up.

A stupid ass Chicago bi-sexual thug with questionable documentation, no real job ever, and no experience in foreign policy. A sickening puppet following the orders of the same maggots that got us into the last 2 wars. He should be tried for treason or put in front of a Nurrenberg style war tribunal and dealt with immediately.l

Dumbass.

Kerry answered a question from a reporter, off the cuff.

Putin and Syria pounced on it.

Now obama wants to pretend he "meant to do that."

Really? How thick-headed are you people?

Agreed, Putin definitely didn't do this out of the goodness of his heart. He saw a wide-open opportunity to (1) poke Obama in the eye, (2) take advantage of our blunder, (3) improve his standing and influence on the world stage even though he's a sociopath, and (4) scold America for its "exceptionalism".

He ran with it, can't really blame him for that. Talk about a win-win for him. He's a pig, but a smart pig.

not thick headed. Either it's spinning or it's cognitive dissonance. They can't defend, so they're trying to make some sense of it all. Putin keeps slapping them about, they can't understand how so many of their own, not too mention the right and independents so totally disagreed with Obama, thus them. They are overly invested in the man.

President Putin threw little o obama a lifeline that obama instantly grabbed. President Putin is no fool, he has something else in mind. He's in total control now. obama has outsourced our foreign policy to Russia. That's what happened. obama is dancing at the end of a Russian string. Since obama is such a fool, that string may well turn into a noose.

Yes, the reactionary righties and the far lefties have humiliated themselves in their reactions about Syria.

Not bombing is good, having the US mocked and diminished is not. There are ways to turn this in the right direction, but not with the folks he's currently surrounded by. He needs someone who will walk him through diplomatic speak, gain discipline on his mouth, and not just yes him. Kerry was made a fool of the week before, couple that with his loose lips in the UK and he's proven that he is not the man for the position.

Kerry is the perfect man for the position. As he has proved more than once since Kerry took the office of Secretary of State, he is the perfect reflection of obama's bumbling incompetence. The US isn't mocked and diminished. obama is mocked and diminished. The US is a world power under the temporary control of a dolt. Everyone recognizes that. The goal is to keep the monkey from throwing the hand grenade until he leaves office.

That is a given at this point. There's more than 3+ years to go and I doubt Obama is going anywhere. Hopefully they will get someone from outside his circle.

Honestly, I don't think it's even one of the most humiliating in Obama's own administration.

- Benghazi - after allowing the murder of several people for political purposes covered it up
- Fast and furious - his administration sold guns to criminals, he said he didn't know then used executive privilege which is only possible if he did know
- Race baiting in the Zimmerman case
- Race baiting in the Crowley case
- Ran to be President of the United States by against capitalism, particularly financial services, energy and medical industries, twice
- Chosing a corrupt product of the corrupt Clinton administration to be Secretary of State
- Chosing a guy who perjured himself and called Vietnam soldiers baby killers and war criminals to be Secretary of State
- Blowing off our closest ally, the PM of the UK
- Taking a "Peace prize" which was in their explanation based on his wanting to reduce the power of the country he leads.

Thank God the US finally has a strong decisive president. Thanks for taking over Mr. Putin!

Putin may not chose to act for the purpose of the interest of the US, but at least unlike the Chump In Chief he won't intentionally act against it.

The former community activist has screwed up the Country to the extent that it might take decades to recover. The Russians gave us information that two Russian born terrorists in Boston were dangerous and whatever federal agency was in charge dropped the ball and people lost their lives. It's been a year since Benghazi and it seems the CIA hasn't done much except to hide witnesses from Congress. Now president Hussein has done the impossible by making a Russian thug look like a statesman and diminishing America's influence almost to the point of no return.
