This is Why Socialized Medicine Sucks.

It isn't "socialism" just because something is done together with others. It isn't "socialism" to organize healthcare in a way that provides more services to more people less expensively.
It is propaganda to insist that such healthcare is "socialism".
If the UK and Canada are government only healthcare options that is 100% socialized. Regarding the vaccine in the USA, you can get it at retailers, health clinics, convention centers, arenas etc., and there is no cost.

Here is America almost 50% of the population has gotten at least the first Covid shot. The second Pfizer shot must be administered within 21 days for maximum effectiveness, Moderna within 28 days, So, what about Canada or England you ask?

This is a quote from a Canadian,

"Almost 1/3 of Canadians have had a first dose. However, with the 3rd wave, most of the country is still in lockdown. In Canada we are adopting a strategy of administering second doses to most at 3-4 months later as Health Canada have strong evidence pointing to better protection with the bigger gap and to get 70% effective first doses into as many people as possible as soon as possible."

This story being told to Canadian citizens is complete horseshit, They are lying. There is zero evidence that making people wait 3-4 months to get the second Covid shot is advantageous.

A quote from someone in England.

"Here in England it’s approximately a 12 week wait between Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines. International travel is prohibited at the moment except under certain circumstances. Everyone is hoping that will change come 17 May when the Government is hoping to lift that restriction. The airlines (and everyone else) are waiting to find out which countries will have the ‘green light’ for travel at that point should that be the case. However, it appears that many countries will only accept fully vaccinated visitors. With a 12 week wait between doses, that could pose a problem for some. "

So tell me why socialized medicine is better?

Socialized medicine is better because it is more cost effective.

Socialized medicine COULD BE just as good as good healthcare in the US. There's nothing stopping a country pumping in more money.

The US spends about 17% of GDP on healthcare and the UK spends 9%.

If the UK were to spend more, then the system would be better than the US's system.

Beyond that socialized healthcare is better because EVERYONE gets treated. In the US some people have great healthcare, others die because they can't afford it. As if humans are like cars, oh, it broke down, get a new one.

Tons of stories about people suffering because of that system.

Too much greed in the US healthcare system, from big pharma to your local clinic, they rape the insurance companies, then they rape you.
How many countries in the world are standing in line to adopt the US system of healthcare?

There are plenty of people who come here for life savings procedures because of expertise that can only be found in the US. That is what is generally lacking in these other countries. You can’t expect much nearly as much exceptionalism from doctors who aren’t rewarded in proportion for their work.

Rand Paul went to Canada for medical care.

No doubt the US has some of the best surgeons in the world. But you better have good insurance and it will still cost you a pretty penny. Right now my girlfriend pays $600 a month for just normal insurance and she has to get foot surgery and it is still going to cost her a few thousand with the insurance.

I agree it is expensive and we need to lower the cost without affecting the quality, however socialized medicine isn’t the answer, competition in the marketplace is.

I doubt that, being a capitalist health system the medical technology is expensive, which the US hospitals will easily buy to keep up with the latest technology, to keep the customers rolling in and the Dr.'s wallets fat.
Why do US doctors always specialize?
That's where the $$$ is.
Had an X-ray lately, the doctor can't read it, it has to be taken to "specialist".
Imagine a student in medical school, graduates and can't read an X-ray.
A vet can do that, for your dog.

Correct.. except for the VA the government doesn't employ the doctors or own the facilities. Single payor and private delivery are not socialism.

Why is it better? I have already had my two shotz through the VA and I was paid to do it, that is why it is better.

Actually it is all based on assumptions. Our assumption is that taking them at these intervals gives you a longer window of protection but that window is only 9 months.

But all the data suggests it is still much more effective than what Canada and England are doing with their socialized medicine which is making people wait months for their second shot. .

The second shot contains the same everything as the first shot, the moderna and pfizer shots have the same active agents, and the moderna shot is twice as strong as the pfizer shot, so I really don't know if we are getting the full picture here is all I am saying. It would seem as if one Moderna is as good as 2 pfizers.

Getting vaccinated "for free by Government regulation" is socialism.

The VA is socialism because the government owns the facilities and employs doctors, nurses and staff.
Government is socialism.
...and ignorance is bliss.

We are in deep trouble here. We may even have to have the NHL playoffs here in a bubble. The third wave is upon us, we are shut down right now until the end of May in Ontario even as our numbers continue to be near record highs.

I find it peculiar how so many in America want to copy our system.
Thank you for the information...
