This is why you shouldn't pay burger flippers 15 an hour

I'll tell you "people" something. I don't work in fast food, but people who do, do a lot more then "flip burgers". That's a term used by those who are clueless
If you visit a Toyota or Honda plant down south you will see high paid Walmart workers and burger flippers who work for a company that fears the workers will unionize.

Fast food workers need to unite.
A couple of years ago VW told it's plant workers in the US to go ahead and have a vote whether the workers wanted to unionize. If they did then VW would endorse their decision. The workers overwhelmingly rejected to unionize.
People who work in FF businesses as a means of permanent long term employment do not have the education/IQ/skills to do anything else. Some are a perfect fit for the jobs they are hired to do. Some can't even be counted on to sweep the floor properly.
I once owned a restaurant. Before I opened I found my biggest problem was hiring decent clean honest staff.
I literally went to every restaurant and FF business in a five mile radius to 'head-hunt' the best staff I could find.
I ate at these restaurants a few times. I observed how the staff behaved. What their fingernails looked like (one of the most important things to watch for when hiring anyone for any job BTW), how they dressed and what their posture was etc.
When I found someone I thought was a potential employee I waited until they had left where they were working. I then approached them and explained who I was and why I wanted to have a few minutes of their time. This worked almost every time.

BTW the reason they were willing to leave their current jobs was because I offered them four bucks an hour more than they were making.
People who work at Toyota and Honda are just people who used to work at Walmart or ff and knew someone who got them in to Toyota. That's how everyone gets a job in the auto factories. Right place at the right time.

Toyota and Honda make enough they didn't want to fuck with a good thing. Those companies only pay so well for fear of unionization. You don't seem to get that. Otherwise those are just uneducated $12 hour factory rats

Only in America, can a rich white guy, with orange skin, ie Trump who by the way, and others like him are the reason wages in this country hasn't caught up with inflation and the cost of living since the late 60's, convince stupid ignorant white people that its Obama's the black guys fought, life now sucks in america...LOLOLOL. Not these rich white mf's, these CEO's, the Wall street fucks, who keep their white ass's out of the middle class....endlessly. Truth be told, if this country stayed with the cost of living, min. wage should be about 20 bucks an hour.

80% of the jobs in this country are all service industry jobs, just about....and that includes the burger flippers that I hope spit on your shit when you come in, moron.

You know why all those good jobs got shipped overseas??? Free trade. Which the DEMOCRATS brought upon us.

That's right. Democrats wanted 3rd world shitholes to get all our jobs....then imported tens of millions of low skill immigrants.

So when your fellow black males age 18-35 can't find entry level work outside of McDonald's and WalMart.....now you know why.

For the record.....

My first job and summer job in college was as a grocery bagger. Ingles Supermarkets in NC. I put people's shit into bags. Carried it to a car. Put it in the trunk. Repeat 75 times a day.

Did I deserve $15 an hour? No. The job was actually unnecessary and just a convenience Ingles provided for customers. I was lucky to have the job at all.

Worked my way out of min wage jobs by getting an education and being a good employee. EVERYONE else can do that. And hundreds of millions of Americans have.

Some haven't and wanna say the system is rigged.

It's not.

I'll tell you something, I worked in fast food for many years and, except for cleaning up if you were on the closing shift, pretty much all you did was flip burgers...

Now, the average hourly salary for an EMT in California is $16.98. In New York it is $18.85. These are professionals, experts to a degree. And now we're talking about paying some fast food schlub just starting out in a menial job $15.00 an hour? Do you not see something wrong with this? These fast food jobs aren't meant to support a family, they're not meant to even support a single person. They are meant to provide experience and training for future employment, they are meant to earn money for movies and condoms.

for me

as a kid it wasnt my first job or best paying job

it was a way out of the house late night on a Friday and Saturday

Surely you jest! No, they flip burgers. Well, I guess they do other things like man the french fry station, take out the trash, mop the floor, scrub the toilets and pour milkshakes. But isn't easier and quite descriptive of the quality of the job just to say they "flip burgers". Hey, nothing wrong with it. I made minimum wage while in school doing this.

It is not a lack of wages that is the problem, it is the lack of opportunity of better jobs.

If a Democrat or Republican consumer buys cheap foreign made goods - the end result is the same.
For every liberal that cries about CEO's and rich people - where the f*ck do you think their money comes from??? --- YOU!!!!
You buy their shit. Repeatedly. You line up at WalMart just like everyone else.
If you want anything to change, YOU have to change. Starting with your spending habits. It is the only thing an average American can do to change anything.

. Wow 4 bucks an hour more than they were making ? It sounds like you had done extensive research on the potential employee, and that they would be well worth the investment. Good for you, and I hope it was very prosperous for you. I agree that there are many factors to look at when hiring the right people for a job, but the idiot left has this mentality to leave no man behind, and it is the same mentality that haunts them and their being taken seriously in life.. I remember when hair nets were an absolute must when cooking and handling peoples food, but where do you see that anymore ? I have seen in these McDonald's employee's wearing these jamacan looking hair styles, and if anyone knows these styles, you don't wash your hair because the style will ruin if you do. Now how are resteraunts allowing it's customers to be abused like this ? Supply and demand chains that are found in industry today, has led the feds to push their agenda on corporations to force them to hire people in their industries being based upon political correctness, and anti-discrimination laws that have been taken to the extreme these days. We the people are being extremely abused by government and these corporations who are the lap dogs of government these days. Chic-filet is one of the most profitable resteraunt chain out there these days, and it's because it chose not to be PC, and instead did what was right as it should have. We as a people allowed the corps to become monopolies, and when they did we got screwed over badly by them and our government. Minimum wage should only be an entrance wage in which should quicky change soon after the employee proves to be a long term employee who will be a potential for the company worked for in the long term.... Minimum wage should keep up with inflation, but it should not be relied upon as a long term wage by anyone. The minimum should have a bottom it should not go lower than, but it should also have a top out in the minimum amount given during the training period. Minimum wage should be customized to each type of business out there, where as a one size fits all should never apply. Socialism, and big brother being to involved is not ever the answer, and we will end up faltering with all the craziness going on today in America.

An old Jew once said "in order to make profit you must 'buy right'".
The 'buy-right' in my case was to hire only the very best and pay them accordingly.
I never had any problem with my staff stealing, not showing up for work, coming to work stoned and or drunk, fighting with other staff, being rude to the customers.
I had the restaurant for four years and sold it for a good profit.
That was 25 years ago. Other restaurant/ff business owners thought I was crazy to pay my staff so much.
Ya crazy like a fox.
Before I sold the restaurant I even screened the buyer. I had to be positive he had the same philosophy about only hiring the very best and paying them accordingly. He still owes the business.
Today the restaurant is doing fine and some of the staff I hired are still working there.
If any of you have ever eaten at a Michelin star restaurant the first thing you notice when you walk in the door is the quality of the staff.
I been to lots of FF restaurants as I'm sure many of you have.
Some are fucking filthy dumps. Some you can eat off the floor. Guess which ones are making a profit?

The substandard flippers had to break the windows because opening the doors never occurred to them.

Automate fast food and there won't be substandard people breaking windows.

Yes, they wipe down counters, sweep the floor, take out the trash. All activities requiring extensive training and high intellect.

These are not career activities, nor are they worth a $30,000 annual salary.

As far as the OP title for this thread goes, my response is, the $15 an hour wage increase that was recently implemented for California is an inflation issue. I doubt the OP lives in L.A. because he ought to check out rent cost there. And gas and groceries for that matter. Just try and make it on less and you will be one of the many homeless living on the streets there mumbling to themselves.
Also the link has nothing to connect it to the title of this thread. Apparently the OP has access to a pc and the internet but has little or no knowledge as to make a valuable contribution to this message board.

And also why illegal rentals are widespread in LA and So. CA in general. And of course the liberal governments there are legalizing grossly improper housing...anything to hide the truth of reality there.

I don't think we should pay one man at the top 1,500,000 bucks per year! At least the burger flipper is doing the hard work.

"We" dont pay that top guy that. He or his company pays him that. AND it's not our business what he makes. Sure...he might be an arrogant prick. He may have inherited that business. Who knows. But it's HIS.

I'll never grasp the liberals idea that no one's property is truly theirs. That somehow when a man opens a business....his business doubles as some sort of welfare factory that he is obligated to adopt 150 man-child workers and raise them. Fuck that. Here's the salary....take it and do your job or quit.
To be fair and opened minded from my perspective in this, umm well is this, but correct me if I'm wrong please... I think what has happened in the past, is that newly created or generational changing bad greedy ownerships began a trend of exploitation and greed that got the lib side of government involved in trying to deal with this exploitation and greed that began leaving so many out to dry to quickly in it all... The crazy thing is that the government may have caused it all in a crazy town way through bad policy making or social experimentation on this nation... The LIB's began to hear the cries of income inequality running rampant in America next, and it saw it as a threat that would hold to many people down therefore exposing them and their idiot policies and experiments over the years, and so they figured when this greed happened that people would become prone to looking for the government to subsidize their pitfalls or lacking in pay in these situations that were growing more and more and more out of balance in America. Then the lib government began the idea of forcing companies to get in line with balancing the scales better for all, but then the companies began flooding their industries with cheap illegal labor or moving their industries abroad to capitalize on the cheap labor abroad in some industries as a rebellion or as an excuse in which the libs had given to them on s silver platter. This left hundreds of thousands or millions of Americans to wither on the vine, and to become desperate in their situations. It all came to a head I guess, and now this nation is trying to figure it all out again. The government thinks it has the answer, but it is going about it in all the wrong ways just like it always does. The "LIB" side of government is really going about it in all the wrong ways. Corporations have since ruined this nation due to the war being waged between them and the government, and now the government working to control corporations is even worse. Not sure what the answer is to it all, but this is what I've understood it to be for the last 25 years or more now it seems.

Yes this is not a new issue with property in So. Cal. or happening elsewhere. Anyway someone can come up with to make more money and dodge tax assessments the better right?
To have to see what amounts to subletting an apartment or condo is distressing to regular owners for their neighbors. There is an issue that needs some addressing there. but if you can only find work in a fast food restaurant to survive then the wage should reflect the cost of living for the area. If not there may have to be some sort of mass housing like that used in China to support workers in proximity to the jobs. But I don't see America going in that direction. At least this isn't a totalitarian society just yet. THX 1138 comes to mind.

It is called Corporatism.
Over the past 30 years America has been transformed from a Representative Republic, with a free market based economy...to a Plutocratic Corporatocracy with an elitist controlled market economy.
And BOTH sides of government are equally corrupt in serving the system.
Obama is a corporatist/elitist to the core. As is Hillary. Obama has been the greatest friend to Wall Street/Investor class than any President before him PERIOD. There is a reason why it is good to be rich under this President.

. But if someone does want to stay in that industry, then there should be a structural pay scale that has a bottom/entry wage, and a top out pay for all positions worked. If this is not the case, then exploitation could very well be found in the wrongful treatment of employees by way of using a communist or socialist style one size fits all (on the different levels) type of system. All employees should be judged according to their contributions given, their achievements and their stability as a great employee, and they should be awarded with appropriate raises and benefits accordingly.

The reporter was about equally dumb. I guess air is technically a gas

Burger King employees smash windows following prank call

idiota, they were told it was the fire department and the place would blow up unless they let out the gas from a purported leak.

i figure you're worth about 4 cents an hour, but i still support your right to be able to feed, house and clothe yourself if you work a 40 hour week.

now run along like a good little winger
I bet air conditioning in your car is rolling down the windows.
