Trade War FAIL: Farm Loan Delinquencies Highest In 9 Years

Farm loan delinquencies reach highest point in 9 years as prices slump

WICHITA, Kan. — The nation's farmers are struggling to pay back loans after years of low crop prices and a backlash from foreign buyers over President Donald Trump's tariffs, with a key government program showing the highest default rate in at least nine years.

Many agricultural loans come due around Jan. 1, in part to give producers enough time to sell crops and livestock and to give them more flexibility in timing interest payments for tax filing purposes.

"It is beginning to become a serious situation nationwide at least in the grain crops — those that produce corn, soybeans, wheat," said Allen Featherstone, head of the Department of Agricultural Economics at Kansas State University.

I wonder if America's farmers are "tired of winning" Trump's idiotic trade war yet.

Probably due to the cutback in government farming subsidies. Farmers shouldn't be allowed to be a "welfare class." They should be able to succeed or fail on their own.
What the hell are you talking about, retard?

Trump gave the farmers MOAR money to bail them out of his destructive trade war: A $12 Billion Program to Help Farmers Stung by Trump’s Trade War Has Aided Few

And they are STILL suffering the highest delinquencies in 9 years.

I see you drank the Kool-Aid that we have had bad trade deals up to now.

I didn't say they were bad. I asked if it'd be possible to leverage them and others into giving us something better. Will you have an actual conversation, or will you just vomit more of your partisan bullshit?
You should ask the farmers if Trump has done "better" for them.

Trump's argument has been that our trade deals with China were "bad", and that is why he started this idiotic trade war.

Don't drink the Kool-Aid.

I'm not talking about Trump. You are incapable of not being a partisan clown. I asked you a question and you won't answer it.

Don't have a rat's ass to give. Don't care, no way, no how.

I'll still be voting for him in 2020 and sincerely look forward to your wailing and gnashing of teeth when you lose again.

You will lose again, you know. There's nothing you and yours can do about it.

your question is based upon faulty logic that we are getting screwed by the current trade deals.

No it isn't. I never said we're getting screwed. Will you answer the question or not?

The answer is perhaps, if we had done it smartly and not declared a trade war on the whole world at the same time.

There are smart ways to do things and there are dumb ways to do things.

:21::21::21::21::21:

a cut back in government farming subsidies? are you drunk or high?

Trump gave them an extra 12 billion dollars last year.

there has been no cutting of government farming subsidies

The answer is perhaps

Why not be open-minded about it then? Trump's intention was to improve America. Maybe he didn't go about it ideally, but the left never supported even the root of the idea, which is a good one in my opinion.

I honestly do not think gives a shit about America, he just wants to hear the roar of the crowd and have his name on as many things as possible when he leaves office.

Not to mention, good intentions followed by shitting execution is not something to brag about.

You really think a populist narcissist like that doesn't want to make good on his promises? You think he doesn't want an amazing legacy? Trump's being an asshole doesn't prevent him from honestly attempting to benefit our nation. Partisan close-mindedness is a disease.

So, we are to give him a pass because he had good intentions? I'd rather have a president who actually did things to improve the country rather than just give lip service.

He wants people to cheer for him, he wants to hear how amazing he is.

He is easy to get to change his mind, there have been so many examples of it.

He was ready to sign the spending bill till Hannity and Coulter said bad things about him and then he choose instead to shut down the government.

for two years he said no Fed dollars to the Great Lakes, then in an hour long drive from the airport to the site of his rally he had his mind changed. He was convinced that it would make for a great way to excite the people in Grand Rapids.

I honestly do not think Trump thinks past tomorrow, if that far. The problem with calling me partisan close-mindedness is I felt much the same way about Obama. In fact with as much as I dislike Trump I still find him a better president than the previous two.

Maybe he could have gotten more done if half the country hadn't been completely close-minded to the root idea. Maybe the left could have contributed to his goal somehow, but no; we'd rather obstruct each other no matter what so nobody accomplishes anything. God forbid Trump pull off something worthwhile, right? Can't let him get a partisan tally; he could get reelected!

nice head line
the whole LONG article itself is mostly about years of low prices and falling land prices..ive been saying real estate is soft since i showed up in this joint
falling land prices....shocker ...farmers put up their land as collateral on loans .. derp

When Trump imposed tariffs, China retaliated by stopping soybean purchases, closing the biggest U.S. market. While trade negotiations with China continue, many farmers fear it will take years for markets to recover — as it did when President Jimmy Carter imposed a grain embargo on the then-Soviet Union in 1980.

"The tariffs Trump is messing around with are not helpful at all — I don't think anybody knows the true effect," said Steve Morris, who farms near Hugoton in southwest Kansas.

thats it on the tariffs and soybean farmers

zero analysis
just feeding the TDS

And this year the flooding in the grain states will make it impossible for some farmers to plant corn as their fields will not be dry and ready in time. So even more soybeans than would have been planted will be planted this year, making the problem even worse if Trump does not work out a deal with China.

Okay, that's surprising. Either way I think the idea of getting better trade deals should have been supported by all.

I put Obama as the 2nd worst POTUS ever, only ahead of Bush II.

One thing history has taught us, do not fight a multi-front war. Be it with your military or a trade war

The truth is if we pulled our economic dick out and laid it on the table nobody would dare fuck with us. We could leverage a lot and do a lot for America, but it might hurt somebody's feelings.

I do not think we are as well hung as you like to pretend. It is a big world out there and every time we pull back and hide in our borders, like with this trade war, someone else steps up and takes our place.

Like this for example...Bloomberg - Are you a robot?

or this...Brazil Shipping Record Amount Of Soybeans to China In 2018

And despite Trump's resort to socialism.

Actually I'd cut him some slack if he hadn't lied to the mooks about "all those jobs streaming back." The irony is that his tax cuts enriched the very people who will benefit the most from fair trade with Jina, and he's shitting on the farmers who voted for him. It's not like anyone didn't predict this of a guy who ran as an economic populist and who was going to govern like Mitch the Turtle.

We could have protected the farmers who are getting flooded too, but the Wall is such an emergency

Well his excuse is that Puerto Rico has taken all the money for farmers for hurricane relief.

Do you think it's possible to leverage China into giving us better trade deals, or is the richest consumer economy on the planet incapable of securing better deals for itself?

Under the current trade deals we have:

1. The 2nd longest period of economic expansion in the history of the country and we will break the record by this summer if it continues.

2. The longest period of positive monthly job growth in the history of our country.

3. An unemployment rate that has been under 5% for more than 3 years.

4. More jobs than people to fill them.

5. Until the start of the trade war we had record stetting financial markets.

Which of those things are bad and need to be changed with the new trade deals?
Well all of them. Didn't you hear tRump when he told us?
