Mueller III, the special counsel overseeing the Russia investigation, according to four people told of the matter, but ultimately backed down after the White House counsel,McGahn threatened to resign rather than carry out the directive.

The West Wing confrontation marks the first time Mr. Trump is known to have tried to fire the special counsel. Mr. Mueller learned about the episode in recent months as his investigators interviewed current and former senior White House officials in his inquiry into whether the president obstructed justice.

Trump is well noted as a pathological liar. This is someone that lies so much that they believe their own lies--and could probably lie all the way through a lie detector test and come out clean. He has absolutely no conscience over lying like normal human beings.

Uh, a President has every right to ask that a Special Prosecutor be fired if he believes he's being unethical and acting in bad faith. If Trump did ask that Mueller be fired, good for him. Mueller is conducting a disgraceful witch hunt that still has not produced a shred of evidence that Trump or any of his advisers colluded with the Russians to influence the election.
